Dont think that matters. We got relegated with Andersen & Morris mate. Plenty of great players get relegated.

I think this is a good move for us. Suprising from Stockport, as was Cosgrove. But might helps us get some new lads in.

Sorry if I upset any O'Keefe fans on here but he's not very good. He's been one of the reasons why we've been a mediocre L1 side in the last year or two. We really must do better if we have any vision or intent. Just cos he runs around (and might be a nice lad) doesn't mean he's a good footballer. I can run around for a few minutes. I'm shi.te at football too. A few more O'Keeffe's and we're in L2.

Good player in a wing back system. 7 assists you aren’t going to be able to get someone to contribute more than that at our level from that position. With the move to a different system understandable to let him go as he wouldn’t work in a back 4

I thought he was OK but could only ever be one of the best players on the pitch or one of the very worst. Generating an average 6-out-of-10 performance seemed to be beyond him.

Strange and frustrating player. Some of his passing was absolutely sublime. Really incredible, both in terms of vision and execution. But then other times he'd look like he'd actually never played football before. Getting caught in possession, falling over for no reason, or being so far out of position that my auntie in West Melton was closer to play.

Can't ever fault his effort and without a doubt he made some excellent attacking contributions. But overall, has far too many weaknesses in his game to be anything other than a mid-table 3rd tier player. I wish him well, but I also wish never to see him in a Barnsley shirt again.

I'm assuming he'll have had some say about whether he's happy with a first team regular being loaned out for the season? It's not like we're raking in a million or two to keep the club running.

Agreed but presumably the board think we are. In which case this is daft. Surely somebody would buy him rather than loaning to a team which finished much higher than us last season? Bonkers

He’s got two years on a salary that has ratcheted up over the last few years. If he’s sold (or a free is agreed), he will very likely have to take a lower salary unless a club decide he is worth more than what we’re paying. I don’t see that happening. As with other players, our only way of reducing our financial outlay is to hope we can loan them out and get as large a contribution of their wages as possible.

Average League One player who did ok in an average L1 team. Never a fullback in a million years but a wing back who needed lots of help/cover which with MDG he got little of.

Not the best, not the worst.

There is a reason we conceded the same amount of goals as the bottom 4.
If I was to sum him up in 3 words it would be.
    Flatters to deceive.

I agree with your assessment. I think a lot of the criticism of him has been way over the top.

MDG gets blamed for everything bad in the same way I blame Thatcher. Be interesting to see if yet another Head Coach knows less about football than some of the pundits on here.

So that’s Earl, Connell, Phillips and O’Keeffe mentioned as leaving over the last week on here, with only anything tangible in terms of a link with regards to Connell.

I’ll save my goodbyes etc if and when anything is confirmed.

He’s a great lad is Corey. Not the brightest, and I think that shows in his game sometimes. But nowhere near as bad as some reviews I’ve read. Albeit, if we are to play a back four, he doesn’t appear to be an ideal full back.
