Amy Winehouse on Sky Showcase now

What an absolute tragedy…….her voice is the best I’ve ever heard.

 

I struggle with her because I think she's massively overrated but at the same time if a song comes on I love it which means I don't think she's overrated at all. I'm a simple lad and get confused easily

 

Really sad viewing. Some people just aren’t meant to be famous. Reminds me of Cobain in many ways.

 

Probably the blonde hair, stubble and guitar.

 

Tbh, they've never been seen together in the same room, so might be sumert in it.

 

Don't understand the adoration she gets tbh, certainly not as a role model for young people.

 

I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone praising her as a role model, more about her unbelievably gifted talent to sing and song write!!

There’s plenty from the 60’s-80’s who were ‘role models’ and ‘heroes’ off there nuts for much of it

 

She is spoken of way too highly for someone of 2 albums and only 2 top 10 singles in over a dozen releases. She had a following but didn't have much chart success.

Now we have Temu Whitehouse aka Raye trying to sound like her.

 

That's wrong. Back to Black has sold over 20 million copies and is a masterpiece.

 

Funny how those within the industry all hold her in extremely high regard. She was also critically acclaimed.

But nah, you're probably right, she was rubbish

 

She was incredibly talented and amazing voice all really sad really.

 

Record sales and talent are two separate things and don't always match up. I'm not really into singers and wouldn't claim to know anything about it but she sounded better than most to me.

I lived in Camden Town in the years leading up to her death and would occasionally see her surrounded by a scrum of paparazzi on the street.
It felt like a local landmark had gone when she died.
