Barnsley’s start on Weds (unless individual schools have used occasional days). Mine starts Thursday (not in Barnsley). I imagine people at the club thought that they had started and didn’t check for the borough.
It's summer holidays Edit: Or maybe not looking @JamDrop post. Must be inset days with the stats I was looking at.
School holidays in Barnsley start July 23rd. On further investigation it appears that every school has decided that Monday and Tuesday are inset days. Must be **** loads of teacher trainers hanging around waiting for those 2 days
Not in Barnsley it isn’t, not automatically anyway. Any school could choose to use one of their occasional days if they haven’t used them elsewhere though.
I work for a company that collects attendance and was looking at the registers today. All Barnsley schools seemed to be off Monday and Tuesday. It's the same mark for an inset day as a school holiday so must be that.
INSET very rarely involves outside providers, it’s too expensive and unlikely to be relevant to everyone across all key stages and subjects. Schools have five ‘occasional’ days to use throughout the year. They are quite often tagged onto holidays to make it easier for parents and staff (if not required in school) to go away somewhere cheaper and for parents to not have to source ad hoc childcare for random one off days. Staff often get these in lieu of twilights (extended after school meetings)/parents evenings/open evening/concerts/summer fairs etc. At the end of the year, they can be useful for sorting out everything for the next year. It makes little difference whether the teachers are made to come in or not, they’re going to be doing the work anyway (they can’t not, books/trays/coat pegs need to be labelled, displays need to be changed, work needs to be planned) and so they’ll be getting far more than two day’s work out of them, whether it is those specific days or not.
It is, depends on the school. A lot finished yesterday and have two inset days next week, my son finishes on Tues at his school but his mates at Darton finished yesterday and Horizon, the biggest school in town, finished yesterday
That’s exactly what I said. Schools can choose to use their occasional days and many have but it’s not automatic.
