I’ve always said that about Fletcher & Toney. Having watched them at Barnsley I would’ve expected them to have had each others careers & not their own
Saw Digby in the youth side against Leeds. Barnsley won 3-0 and Digby totally ran the show. He played like a young Pirlo in midfield and I felt sure I'd watched a future million pound player. I think that growth spurt he had affected his game.
Me too, mate. Thought he looked very decent with us on loan. His career went nowhere i expected it to go.
I liked Aapo Halme and Mike-Steven Bahre in recent times. Thought at least one of them would push on and make us a few mill.
I came here to add Bahre, you beat me by a few mins. Some of the moves he pulled were outrageous. Digby, as others have called, stands out. Looked the real deal when he first broke into the side, but hadn't grown into his body properly. Slightly different ilk, but Mason Holgate when he first got into the Everton side looked like he could follow Stones to the very top, but that was his peak.
I remember one outrageous turn and dummy that put 2 opponents on their backsides. The media team had a superb social media reel of it.
I could be wrong but I thought Carl Tiler paid for the East Stand and John Beresford paid for the floodlights.
Always thought halme was far too slow looked like he had leaf in his boots. I remember us losing at Preston maybe the time we lost 5-1 he must have had 5 or 10 meter on there forward who beat him to the ball to score.
My ex wife once leveled that at me...after refusing to buy her a free standing hair dryer ( like the ones in the salons) You care more about BFC than you do me and my needs She screamed I replied actually I care more about Sheffield Wednesday reserves than I do you and yours needs to be honest
Dale Tonge and Nicky Wroe. Can’t remember who it was against but they played centre mid together as kids in a league game at Oakwell and looked excellent together that day I thought - neither kicked on at all from that
Came on here to say Mike Bahre, expecting a lot to disagree. But lovely to see a few others rated him. Wonderful footballer, but clearly lacked effort or something. Honourable mention to thiam too, he was great that league one season and scored some absolute worldies. But I also liked Kevin Betsy so not sure my judgement can be trusted.
Lots of good shouts here. Also, Nathan Jarman. He was full of natural ability that set him apart and I really thought he might become our rabbit out of the hat type player. Some other younger players I enjoyed watching and had promise but who qualify for this thread were Richard Carrington, Luke Federenko, Simon Heslop and Jordan Helliwell.
I thought Martin Bullock was ace when he broke into the first team. But can we say that he really 'kicked on' ?. Especially when we signed Clint Marcelle, and he did what Bullock did, only better!!.
