The squad is looking pretty decent especially the options we have in the front 3 (you could also include Yoganathan as an option if we're playing with 1 or 2 of the front 3 withdrawn). I think it's obvious that a new right back is a priority. Also, we don't have many options in the midfield if any of starting 3 are sold. Additionally, we still have 4 players needing moved on and 5 if you include 1 of the back up goalkeepers.
I dont get this obsession with anti loan players. Surely it's a better option than the long contracts offered to the likes of Watters Benson and Kane. They all worked well ,plus fees paid for 2 of them.
There are pros and cons to both sides really, they are risk free but the downside you aren't building anything. We've had some good loans over the years Hammill, Brownhill, Tripper, Drinkwater but of late they've been poor.
I'm almost looking forward to the season now. Well, at least I'm not dreading it like I was a month ago. My bold prediction - one or two of Phillips, Russell and Connell will be sold, but they won't be missed as Yoganathan will be our breakout player, and we'll be struggling to hang on to him next summer.
I think he will be an exciting signing. Someone to get on the ball and run at people. I think we look good in attack now. Possibly an out and out number 9 needed.
We have indeed, which is why I think we need to replace. Going against the grain a bit, I didn’t dislike Watters as much as other people appear to online. He was rapid and brilliant at running in behind. However, some of the chances he missed last season were awful. Good move for all parties for him to go.
Good to have a forward body in, we desperately need one or two central strikers though, right back and we've still to generate some surplus and that has to be a combination of Phillips, Connell, Russell and Dunn. Still lots of work to do.
