Well many are upto no good that's why it was all kicking off in epping by looks. But that's another story.
You did, even if you think you didn't. It's through your core and repeatedly leeches out in your posts.
My grandad retired at 65 in the 70's and died at 73. So he had 8 years. My dad took early retirement at 54 in the 90's and died aged 88. 34 years as a retiree. If it's a pension based on years service rather than contributions, that's a lot of money to find. Need a magic machine.
One problem is allowing people to access retirement funds rather than buying an annuity It can run out and thrn reliant on pension credit etc Another problem is what do the 50 -70 age do for work, there's a lot of health issues and the govt will have to pay out in PIP rather than the attendance allowance you could claim as a pensioner which is a lot lower. I don't know the answer but there is a lot of robotics being developed to help ease say knee pain and help older people perform every day tasks. Who knows what the future will look like?
I maybe took the bait I definitely didn't bring up migrants first. Anyway apologies if this post came across as a negative towards your party.
I wonder if restricting the number of immigrants coming to work in this country who will pay taxes supporting the Welfare State will adversely affect pensions for an aging population with a falling birth rate? Hmmm, let's ponder on that for a second and try to apply some joined up thinking.
Me and the missus had a chat the other day. Even if they weren’t scheduled into a curriculum, but maybe done 2 or 3 times every half term even in tutor/form, there should be education on both online safety (missus who’s couple years younger did say they started to do that at her school prior to her leaving mind) and financial education.
Yes, people are living longer — but most folk can’t afford to live better. Wages are stuck in the past, everything costs a fortune, and saving for retirement feels like entering a pub quiz with no correct answers. Seeing as it’s unlikely the super wealthy will be asked to pay more, we need more taxpayers — but the obvious fix (immigration) makes a certain crowd clutch their pearls like someone just suggested free school dinners for asylum seekers. For what it’s worth, I should be alright. Because it’ll be a miracle if this body and brain of mine goes beyond 60 based on the absolute towelling I’ve given it with drugs, ale and plenty of stress over the years. I’ve made steps over the last 12 months to try and live cleaner in the hope of reversing some of the damage, but if I was a betting man I wouldn’t have me reaching pension age.
Retiring in my late 50s, working in the sector I have just watched my manager (A Pension Manager) retire at 52 and how he's made his pension work for him. My SPA is 67 years, l'm in my mid 40s, luckily l've been in a pension all my working life and currently ploughing as much extra money as l can into it.
We definitely need more unvetted ones staying in hotels costing billions a year to the tax payer that will help. The job market has slowed and unemployment are rose since the budget. A proper migration system would be good though like other countries do. Also getting people off sick and disability who are able to work and back to work would help but I think starmer tried that to be fair to him.
Sorry, did I misconstrue? Were you bringing up Epping to deride the far right racists attacking and intimidating asylum seekers? Which party are you implying? Labour? The party I haven't voted for in council or general elections since 2010? How often your analysis is flawed and inaccurate and skewed. Which is your party again? Remind us.
That's the problem for me I won't be able to do the work I do at 60. Body's already feeling it mid 40s. Hopefully will have enough in the pot and get a part time job after 60.
There is @klz but its easier to learn practically. As a parent I spoke openly about money, from a young age the house needed paying for, I didn't get to spend all the money I earned cos of tax etc.
