Bearing in mind the constraints and resources he is going to be working with, what do you consider success will look like this season? Personally , if we finish top 6 it would be a huge achievement. If we blood young lads, develop a sense of identity he has talked about and see signs of progress then I would be happy with a top half finish , which seems realistic. Top 2 would be a pipe dream.
It's got to be a process too much to sort out in two windows. Top half would be positive hopefully get a way to play and see us moving forward.
Top 10 would demonstrate forward progression. I think without serious reinforcements top 6 is beyond us
Success would be top 6, but if he gets us playing in an exciting style and the players are clearly putting the effort in, then a top half finish under those circumstances would be acceptable. The main issue for me is every season we're in this league, the harder it will become to get out without some proper investment.
I expect the squad as it stands to be able to mix it in the top 10. So, a slight improvement on last season. But we’ll have to see what the group looks like when the deadline passes. I’ve gone with top six as success. As in, he’s overachieved if he gets them in there.
I'm not sure if the squad is demonstrably better than last season so, if we finish above 12th, most of the success is down to Conor. I think Top 6 would be a fantastic achievement.
Still going with the same defence that conceded 70 odd goals last term plus a lad that hasn't been deemed good enough for the last two seasons, so loaned out.. A week n half till the opening game so I'm going to hold off in the slight hope that we can still smarten up our back line and defensive minded midfielders before i make any forecast
The title should be the aim of every club. They shouldn't be in the business if they don't feel able to reach the top
Our owner claims that last season we had a top 3 or 4 squad. We have only sent players out on loan that we chose to, it's not like players have gone because we've been unable to turn offers down. So it has to be top 6 minimum.
Who have we lost from last season's top 3/4 squad other than players the club has chosen to get shut of on loan deals?
Are you Neerav? No. That might have been his opinion, but the OP is asking us what ‘we’ see as success and me personally, I don’t see a top six squad.
We we're challenging the playoffs under Clarke but chose to sack him to supposedly improve things (and deflect from Mladens mad January). Considering that Conors been allowed to choose his own coaches and to change the style of play and probably more involved with shaping the squad then I'd say that top 6 should be the aim.
A valid point. I also think that the owner was either full of **** or exceptionally incompetent when he made those claims so you're right, probably not best to base it on what someone who only owns the club because mummy and daddy let him have spending money thinks. So as to what I personally think will be a success for Conor? I'm still saying top 6, not because of the top 4 claims but because we have to get out of this pub league and anything outside the top 6 will be a failure.
