I love Kane's theme song, and the rocks, mankind and Shawn Michaels, but i have to admit that even now it's impossible to hear or even imagine Real American without getting a little bit emotional in a way that none of the others could ever make me feel
Makes me think of watching VHS of Wreslemania. The excitement the first time watching them. "He's hulking up" Seems utterly ridiculous in hindsight doesn't it. But i agree, close my eyes and play that soundtrack and I'm back in the house I grew up in. Sat on the floor glued to the screen, nostalgia is a powerful thing.
I’ll say this. One Mitsuharu Misawa or Lioness Asuka is worth 100 Hulk Hogans when it comes to professional wrestling.
Im sorry but they're just not even in the same league as Hogan for fame. Nothing wrong with enjoying either of those. Hogan is the biggest star in the history of the sport. Love him or hate him its a simple fact.
I’d argue that in the present day, John Cena, Steve Austin, and possibly Roman Reigns have surpassed him.
Regardless, Bollea was a garbage human being who wasn’t fit to lace the boots of the likes of Bret Hart, Kenta Kobashi and Bryan Danielson.
Cena is the only one who could even make a case and I'd say its not much of one. I keep saying it but you have to remember the moment in time Hogan was on top. He transcended the sport in a way no one has since. He also had the benefit of being in a time when Kayfabe was alive and well and we didn't have everyone telling all. Professional wrestling will never get that mystique back. He was a horrible human being, and an average wrestler in terms of on the mat ability. And still the biggest star in the history of Professional wrestling. If you don't think so I respect your right to that view.
Maybe he was the most famous star in wrestling history. I refuse to bow down to such a terrible person. You should watch AEW man, it’s great stuff and the majority of the wrestlers are also brilliant human beings.
If anyone wants to watch a wrestler with the ultimate aura who is also a wonderful human being, just tune into AEW Dynamite last night and watch Adam Page, possibly the perfect professional wrestler.
Stone Cold is my favourite ever wrestler, or ‘character’ I guess. I loved Chris Jericho too. And his debut in WWE was right up there. As a wrestler, in terms of ability etc, Hogan would rank very low down. As would Warrior who was an icon himself. It’s difficult to look beyond Bret for technical ability. Maybe Chris Benoit but for obvious reasons, he’s seen very differently now…
I don’t catch much of the modern stuff if I’m honest. I liked AJ Styles and Austin Aries some years ago, in TNA I think it was, that’s probably the last time I was watching wrestling with any regularity.
“ Ooh look at me watching posh soaps”…they were a bit too high brow for me, I had to wait until someone bought me soap on a rope,
You should watch AEW mate, it’s 7.50 a month on Triller for 2 two hour shows a week and the wrestling is among the best I have ever seen.
