When Hogan slammed Andre the Giant in front of 93,000 fans, I was a child and had no idea it was ‘scripted’. It was only at school as I grew older that as friends we talked about different matches and realised it wasn’t real. As in, the results are pre-determined. Don’t forget, there was no internet, or mobile phones.

But it is real, in terms of the moves that are performed. And certainly in terms of some of the injuries. Stone Cold was my favourite and he broke his neck. A bad piledriver will do that. Of course, it was very real when Owen Hart died in the ring, or Darren Drozdov being paralysed. There are many more.

The Undertaker throwing Mankind off a 20 foot cage onto a table below, or slamming him through the cage onto the mat. Very real. Who was it that was crucified in the ring once? It got very dark and very non-PG and non-PC for a good five years or more. That was my favourite era.

I hear it’s become very watered down since, more child friendly and as others point out, there’s a wellness programme in place etc.

Don’t care if others don’t like it. I loved it and will probably bang Netflix on tonight and enjoy reminiscing.

Do you honestly think the current wrestlers aren't on a bucketload of steroids? You dodged the question when I asked before.

Sorry, it was the Boss Man one I was thinking of. Can you imagine that now?

I believe they are clean. WWE wouldn't want to risk their billion dollar Netflix deal. Proof is in the pudding that dozens died 50 and younger up to Eddie Guerrero passing. In the 19 and half years since his death and the Wellness policy being brought in, things are a million times better.

Nowadays it is better still. Vince Mcmahon used to overwork his talent and they would need the pain killers.

Now with Paul Levesque in charge the talent are at home with their families way more.

Really? You think John Cena and the Rock are clean? Do you not realise that's a medical impossibility?

They have a "wellness policy" in that they drug test them now and again, and tell them well in advance when they're going to be tested. They pay lip service to having a testing regime but it's very much a "don't ask don't tell" system to allow them to continue to roll out the muscle bound freaks that are an integral part of the brand.

The attitude era was quality...... Mankind and The undertaker in the cage match was one that stands out from my childhood

Undertaker going in to the match with a broken ankle and Mick Foley making him look quality. That hell in a cell match is so memorable.

I got into it in our Prem season.
Apparently there was a screw job in Canada lol, and somebody called Hart was stabbed in the back.
The first proper ppv I saw where I started to recognise who the stars were, was the Rumble in Jan '98.
That year saw the height of the Attitude era, and was really memorable.

You don’t look to be partaking in this at all really…
Free to judge and view as they wish? But yet you’ll try and berate people at every single opportunity on any and every thread to exist. Yawn.

Can you explain Dove vs Dived? I’ve always detested the word “dived” and would prefer it didn’t exist but i’m sure there’s some valid usage for it, unfortunately

Classic case of American vs British. Dived is older and the British version but dove is taking over in common usage. Both mean the exact same thing.

You've ignored it again, do you think John Cena, the Rock et al aren't taking industrial amounts of steroids?

" Its time once again, for everybody, to come aboard, the... " :D

Think of those storylines ehh, a wrestler called The Godfather playing a Pimp.
And bringing his ladies of the night to the ring, and offering them to his opponent, instead of having a match.
They wouldn't get away with that sort of thing these days!!.
And btw, just think off all the unpleasent allegations that have been aimed at Vince McMahon since then.
