That's not an opinion I share tbh. (You said most fans. Im offering my thoughts ) As those making the deals will have taken everything into account. We've not gone out and spent millions I'm pretty sure. As I say those with the purse strings. Will know what's going on. And they have said they want to ballance the books.
It's basic information. It's bizarre how it's not included in such a lengthy article. It will be down to journalists to ask the question and get confirmation. Not great and not something you'd expect from any club announcing a new body.
I'm not in this group of most fans either. Don't care if he was free,74p or a million. I just care that he can actually play football at a good standard and that he's a lot better than the last one we got that had spent the season before on loan at donny
Been saying for ages we needed a box to box midfielder so this will do me. Might take a while to see his best but he looks to have the talent from those clips. Surely a midfielder is in his way out though? My money is on either Phillips or Russell. Sadly I reckon it’ll be the latter.
Tbh mate I don't see the 'dire financial state'.. Our owners have not ran off and left us.. and aren't even refusing to put anymore money in. We had to thin the squad with too many non-starters in it.. which we are doing. And we are actually signing a bit of quality and not for big money.. We are working to a plan, if not Sustainability, then getting closer.. It won't happen overnight as our decline hasn't been overnight. So we as fans must play our part in a least having a bit of realism and patience. With a lowering of most's expecting for this season, it's kind of a free hit.. Let's just except where we are and see where the journey takes us..
Frankly, if we've signed a box to box midfielder, both probably need to be moved on. If there are bigger clubs sniffing, I doubt Russell would sign a new contract so better to get some fee given our financial position. I wouldn't want to have 2 or 3 ahead of Yoganathan either.
Missing my point. Others may not share my view. Some may. As I say the finances are mostly confidential and I won't lose any sleep whether a free or a couple of hundred grand. (Which will be undisclosed)
It's a dire financial state when you're well beyond the horizon of break even. Despite a huge clear out, we're still going to be nowhere near that horizon.
Fans should be bothered by a couple of hundred grand, as well as the millions that a few hundred grand here and a few hundred grand there contribute towards.
Why should i be bothered, the club will spend within their means they have made that clear. And that may include putting more equity in even if they'd prefer not to. You talk as if the club will go under. I don't think that's an intention of theirs. A couple of hundred grand is a players wages. Should we stop signing any.
Don't agree.. if the staff hadn't been paid, if we'd creditors at the door and a transfer embargo. Then I would. What I see is a planned 'cutting of the cloth' which we needed to do. Not a dire situation.
The club haven't spent within their means, that's the problem. It's very rarely anyone's intention to go bust. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Our owners don't have the disposable wealth to continue pumping in equity at the rate they have been.
It's a dire financial state, hence so much equity being pumped in to keep the lights on. And why do you think they are trying to reduce the size of our huge losses... If the financial state isn't dire?
Aye alright. I'll leave it at that. As we won't come to an agreement by continuing in the same vein. And I accept that. Just offered a different point of view to your post. Do you honestly think I have any desire to see us go bust. Or the directors haven't sanctioned any signings. Within their means. They have made no secret of not pumping in millions.
People go on about the clubs finances and breaking even. No club in this league is breaking even if we did we would be dropping like a stone.
The "Patrick" and "Kelly" names have good connotations at Oakwell, so let's hope he can live up to the burden
