He’s apparently a Liverpool fan and ex Bournemouth season ticket holder. I reckon he’s making sure he’s granted press credentials at Plymouth all season though as given he’s the south west reporter there’s not that many other places for him to go! They had at least as much go for them as against.
Epic performance in the end and a fully deserved victory against a frankly disgraceful Plymouth side. The early part of the second half was a total comedy of errors — all over the pitch and especially from the referee. Another ridiculous yellow, and he genuinely seemed determined to spoil the game, eventually getting his way when Shephard was sent off. Still, it did give us the brief pleasure of seeing Didzy at left-back for a few surreal minutes. I had a bad feeling throughout the second half that he was going to send someone else off, but credit to the lads — we held firm and killed the game with that third goal. DKD had a fairly quiet game by his standards, but give him a sniff and he delivers. Amazingly, we ended up playing with three different right-backs and three different centre-back partnerships. Is it too bold to say that MdG and Earl looked the most composed of the lot? Maybe — but they absolutely deserve credit. Ultimately, we showed real bottle, and the togetherness in this group is something else. It genuinely feels like the start of something special. The fitness levels were immense too — playing with ten men for most of the half and still looking fresher at the final whistle. Man of the Match? Plenty of strong candidates, but I’ve got to give it to the Cooperman… Coops… the Murph… Murphster (delete as applicable). Brilliant.
Battling Barnsley at their best today.... great effort against the odds when losing both centre backs, well done!
Completely baffled by the opinion that we haven't played well at any point. We looked controlled in possession, a threat on the counter and clinical in front of goal. I don't think one player put in a bad performance. Yes Plymouth had spells on top, but they're a side with very good players who expect to go up this season. I'm having a beer and logging out cos some of these takes are blumming crackers.
Battled and deservedly won in my opinion. Today we played against 12 men. You could tell the "ref" was going to red card someone after those ridiculous bookings in the first half. Our defence looked ragged, even with Shep and Robbo on but they will get better organised. Fitness and fight were top notch. Vickers looks to have some real quality and DM looks the part also, as does Yoga. Oh yes, and MDG had a good game also.
We always concede that type of goal when Roberts isn’t on the pitch and I feared the worst but we dug in brilliantly and always carried a threat even with ten men.
Loved how we didn't try piss about at the back. Always looked to get thr ball forward. At some points, it looked like they had 10 men rather than us with some of space opening up. Very very happy.
I thought the huge positive, that I wasn't expecting, and, from reading this forum, few other people were expecting, is that we looked very solid defensively. We did that even though we had to reshuffle several times due to an injury and a sending off, and being down to 10 men. Very good away performance.
That BBC report is a joke. Objectively: Their disallowed goal- crap decision, ref never looks at it apart from sering Roberts on the floor and guessing. Challenge by cooper in first half - good tackle, nothing to see here. That's it. And more than levelled up by shepherd's two yellows, neither of which was a yellow. Ref was terrible both ways. Don't think he favoured either side was just crap. Did we deserve it? I think so, battled really well with 10 men. Down that neck of the woods next Sunday staying with in-laws who are die hard argyle fans. Can't wait. You redzzzzzzzzz
Deserved victory, in my opinion. Played some nice football, too, despite being up against 12 men for the entire match. I'll go for Adam Phillips for my MOTM, although there were quite a few contenders.
I don't comment during games but I'd like to say what a fantastic win against one of the favourites to go up. At times the gods were against us but we showed true spirit and grit when required.Great start to the season.
