I'd add he looks excellent with his feet, proper sweeper keeper, sharp and decisive off his line, just what you need in a high press

Man for man today, there's nobody I'd swap for their Plymouth counterpart. There will be tougher tests defensively but an encouraging start nonetheless. I was a bit disappointed in McGoldrick's contribution but confident there's better to come from him. Keeper looks the business on early impressions.

The worry is that people have set their stall out that because Connell, Phillips, DKD have all started the season, they'll all be here at the end of the window. Jaded by years of disappointment, I remain sceptical.

Shepard hard done by first yellow for trying to get out from underneath their payer who was lying on like an Aussie rugby league player , second one yes his hands were up but it was smashed at him from 2 yards , the ref after a decent start caved in to their players and supporters.

I thought we looked very shakey again at the back 1st half' but we defended brilliantly when down to 10' overall good performance' onwards and upwards.

That was my assessment as well, it helped they scored for us first , but second half fighting performance after conceding early in the half ( hoped they’d sorted the the lack lustre starts after half time from last season) Good away win

Disagree here mate with 'another winger" With everyone fit we would have had Farrugia Clearly and Jalo on the bench yesterday.. how many wide players do we want. Don't know why we're even thinking about the lad from Cheltenham. We always seem to overload one area with the same type of signings..
For me deff.. RB, pacy CB.. and a CF if poss before September

If we can get Phillips interested and back to his best again (like yesterday) then maybe we can afford to offload Russell given he’s in his last year? Pretty sure someone will be sold before window closes. Hopefully not DKD.

With DKD and Didzy we don't need another striker imo. Would be just another wasted slot. A new striker joining now is just never going to start. A new winger would.

Jalo not going to be fit for a while by sounds and last 12 months has been out more than he's been available. Farrugia has injury issues too, shamrock rovers fans warned us of this before he joined and he's missed a number of games since Jan with injury issues and I still don't think he's a natural winger. Played there a fair bit by sounds in Ireland but also played a load of games as a wing back. With Conor putting a lot of emphasis on playing with wingers, we can't afford too many games with players filling in there like yesterday.

That's why I would prefer another winger over a striker.

I think another striker is vital, you'll not go a full season without injuries and suspenions.

Ideally I would like a new striker and a new winger. But with the club not blessed with funds to splash. If I had to choose just one, I'd have to edge towards a new winger still.

Our best player currently is our main striker. Be hard to find someone decent willing to come in to sit on bench.

If they could find someone that could cover both that would be the ideal scenario. Like that Tovide lad who can play comfortably in both positions. Unfortunately it sounds like he's now off to Luton so that's off the table.

This doesn't really matter, because we will be using the same model of transfer for our targets. Upfront sum and majority spread out

I completely agree with this. We've got Cleary, Farrugia, Vickers and Jalo for whom wide forward is their strongest position. And then we've got Phillips, Yoganathan, Kelly and DKD, all of whom could fill in there if needs must. Even McGoldrick can play there.

Conor wanted wingers and we've signed some. For once our recruitment process has addressed an obvious need. Don't go and spoil it by overloading the squad and then complain that we haven't got any money and we're losing blah, blah, blah amounts each month.

We haven’t got a right back. Sign one of those. And the only centre forward we have is McGoldrick. Sign one of those.

After that, another midfielder who can tackle and a centre half who can run should be top of the recruitment list, but if we can't afford it then so be it. What we don't need is another winger, particularly if it's going to prevent us signing any of the four positions outlined above.

We had Humphrys, Watters, Rodriguez, Marsh and Cosgrove last season as strikers. We still have DKD.

Despite how good or bad last seasons forward pool was (who have all now gone), they wont be replaced by one ‘experienced’ centre forward. I would say we need at least one striker before the window closes. Im not sure what we would do if McGoldrick got injured.

As for the defence, i still believe we are two short.
