Game over, and a series win thrown away through stupid batting, having done the hard work.

 

Think a draw to the series and a fifer for Siraj is probably fair. What a series, it hasnt lacked drama!

 

This is poor from India. Hopefully we can capitalise on this.

Great series. We have been woeful this match. 5 drops. 40 stand in 3rd innings and letting terrible batsman in a deep get 66 . Shambolic england bowling and fielding.

 

I agree. It feels like India won more of the sessions over the series than England, so a 3-1 series win would have very much flattered us.

Not saying I didn't want it to happen though, but no-one can really complain that it's been drawn.

A brilliant advert for the "test cricket is boring" nay-sayers, and a good reminder why the obsession with short-over formats, particularly the 100, can't be allowed to be detrimental to the long form of the game.

 

The real loss is that there is no test cricket for England till December

 

Great game, fair play to India for coming back so strongly. Can’t fault either side they’ve given it absolutely everything.

 

It was the dropped catches and extras that cost us this match. But we rely on last minute heroics far too much to win. We consistently fail to lay the groundwork in the first innings of matches. Makes an exciting watch but shows how much we lack killer instincts.

All credit to India who worked exceptionally hard to get something.. but they are one of the weakest India sides I have ever seen come to these shores.. and we should have beaten them comfortably. In the end, England caused themselves as many issues as India did.

Really pleased for Siraj though. Lived his career in Bumrah's shadow

 

301/3 to 367 all out. Including at least two wickets where the batter marched down the pitch and lost all shape. And for some reason, Smith and Overton came out this morning under the impression that leaving a ball on 7th stump wasn't allowed.

 

Root and Brook would have every right to be angry at the bottlers that followed and ruined their good work.

 

Most amazing test match I can remember seeing and an incredibly tight series.
Well done to both sets of players for providing us with some great entertainment.

 

Just like in football, people are very quick to forget that there are two teams trying to win the game.

 

Up there with the 2005 Ashes.

Woakes was a warrior to come out, but complacent by management not to have him do it in the first innings.

 

There wasn't when we were only three down though. They'd given up.
