You always hear about players that have it all but the end product, Phillips seems to be the other way round, but as much as he irritates me sometimes with his attitude and his ability to go missing, we are probably going to have to sign two players to match his G/A output when he does leave which says something for how important he’s been.

Still not on the level of Conor though.

Conor captained a side to promotion and was a big player in that side. I like Phillips he's a very good player for us but until he achieves something with us like a promotion no comparison.

Oh definitely no comparison i know that. I like Adam Phillips but when I used to watch Conor Hourihane play i was in awe. His magical left foot. Adam Phillips does go missing quite a lot.

Phillips is technically excellent, as his goal at Plymouth and that brilliant 45 yard pass from right to left yesterday illustrated. He's definitely got the quality to be in a promotion-chasing Championship side.

Phillips has more individual quality but Hourihane was the better all round player.

I can rarely say I’ve seen him play outstandingly well but if you have so many assists and goals to your name how could we possibly do without him. Pretty invaluable at this moment.

They are both goals and assist machines. But what made Conor get to such a high level was he was more adaptable and learnt to do a job as a centre mid, for a brief period here he could do everything.

Because Phillips isn’t athletic and isn’t great off the ball it’s not ideal for a bottom end team in the championship to take a chance on him. But he’d do well for a team who dominates possession and has 2 midfielders who can a lot of running for him.

Conor’s the better player all day long but I’d like to see Phillips get a chance in the championship in the next couple of years as his final ball and shooting is very handy, it has to be at the right team though.

And when we signed Conor from Plymouth, didn't it take him a while to settle at first, and win us fans over.
Who knew then ehh, what a talented star player he would turn out to be. :)

He did aye mate. He took some rate stick from a small section of our fans, who writ him off instantly, bit like they did Dike and Andersen (though in Mads' case it was a bit more understandable). But I suppose every fanbase has fans like it. Unfortunately not every player can hit the ground running!

While I don't think Watters is anywhere near Phillips in footballing ability, I also think that bearing in mind our current lack of out and out strikers, loaning him to Dundee Utd was crackers.

In fact Frog, and yeah we're obviously not the only fans who do this.
But didn't we also give Danny Wilson, and Ronnie Glavin, and maybe even Neil Redfearn, a bit of a cold-start attitude.
They had to win us over to begin with, like with Conor.

Yes, Phillips’ goals and assists from midfield are almost as good as a striker’s!
