While I agree with you how can you call this the "Trump/Farage" playbook. It's all of their playbooks including Starmers who's government has labeled this org "terrorist". Israel first everywhere- it's outrageous. People need to realise its not left versus rigth at this point they are all corrupt to the core
I can't think of any point in my lifetime when there haven't been protests. The 70s/80a were full of them.
Suppose you may be right about protests, because you only saw on news at 10 etc, probably didn’t preoccupy my mind ,
I’ll be honest, even though I left Labour early into Starmer becoming leader and knew he wouldn’t be my cup of tea, I didn’t expect to see him voted in as PM with a huge majority and end up aping the far right rhetoric of messrs Trump and Farage.
It's almost like it's not a Trump/Farage playbook and it's all of their playbooks- the uniparty playbook. Farage isn't even in charge, not sure why he's even relevant to this argument- not that I think he would do any different or better. It's an argument that's saying even though the Labour government are doing this it's still the Right's fault. Israel have paid them all off- they are in charge of the US and UK governments. Starmer's government is as totalitarian and dystopian as the rest. Controlled opposition
What’s the solution then? Because whilst I joined the Greens, they aren’t going to win an election. And as much as I admire Corbyn and believe the game was rigged against him, I don’t think his new party wins an election either. If local elections are a guide, if polls are helpful, then we are looking at a Reform government at the next GE. So as usual, my political and moral beliefs remain in the minority.
I'm honestly not sure mate, I was conned by Trump myself and feel pretty hopeless about the power of politics in general in regards to us peasants. Things only seem to get worse and like you said those smaller parties get drowned out fairly easily
An accident apparently. Sir Keir said: "I wouldn't have used those words if I had known they were, or even would be interpreted as an echo of Powell. "I had no idea – and my speechwriters didn't know either.”
As expected completely missing or more accurately ignoring the point that the problem isn’t that he indirectly quoted him but that he shares the same views.
Hilarious. That's like anyone else saying" I said something racist the other day, but had no idea it was until someone pointed it out to me. Had I known it was racist, I wouldn't have said it"
Really, You'd think it'd mean he'd have more sympathy for an organisation that didn't realise their non violent protest would be viewed as a threat to the public and get them classified as terrorists.
I just can't get my head round the fact they could just sneak into a UK military base period. Foreign intelligence must be sat there stroking their collective bad guy beards. And you can guarantee that Palestine Action will be completely infiltrated by undercover cops. (Hopefully they don't sleep with any and get them pregnant like they've done elsewhere in the past, which is not a crime apparently.....
Presumably you don't have people write what you say before you say it, and then you practice saying it before you say it though?
I agree with that but his speech was written by a team of speech writers who agreed it was a good speech to give. It's not like you or me just saying something without thinking, it was a preplanned speech
I do feel that’s important but the current Israeli government don’t care a jot what our government think. I imagine a few conversations in the Israeli corridors of power go a bit like this. “The British public are having another protest about our stance towards Palestine benny” “Oh, is it still bolognese for tea?” “But their government have been on television, making some statements” “ I thinks I’ll wear my mauve pyjamas to bed later”
I don't think it's just words, their fighter jets are made of British parts and British companies sell weapons to Israel.
Sometimes just doing the right thing is important, regardless of what anyone thinks and what the outcomes is. And until you do the right thing you don't know what effect it has on others. Starmer and Lammy can't even manage a token sanctions package.
