You do realise that was a tradition started by a Reg Maudlin - Conservative chancellor in 1964 - who left note saying "Good luck, old ****.... Sorry to leave it in such a mess"?

I suppose that does mean that we can blame the tories for the state of the economy when they left. Again.

What do you make to the highest may borrowing since records began? Just shy of 18 billion.

According to Keynesian economics, the government should currently be investing in infrastructure as a way to build the country out of the current financial situation. So, if it is spent on stuff that is positive for the country (new infrastructure) and creating jobs then I'm fine with it.

I'm no economist I just don't think it looks great especially after rises in national insurance and tax for employers the month previous.

Perhaps there should have been bigger NI rises and less borrowing! And the farmers got away with 20% IHT! :)

No thoughts Mr O? I'd say 17 billion closer to bankruptcy. Don't worry the next budget will be more tax rises. If the rosette was a different color I'm sure you'd be critical.

If they need the money they just print it. Literally. They then get us mugs to pay the interest off with money that has been devalued due to them printing it in the first place.

They print it, we pay for it. Scam.

Says the NIESR… the opaquely funded Tufton Street gangs ‘think tank’ routinely endorsed by Liz Truss including several from her 40ish day honours list.

More a badge of shame than honour.

When I saw this convoluted crap this morning I absolutely knew who would be mentioning it though.

Well my solution would be stop funding genocide. It'll save billions, and we won't have the small problem of refugees trying to claim asylum here. The small boat numbers will drop, and all the gammonwaffen will be happy.

    Only joking, they never are.

Oh, and reopen the avenues for education. People might actually learn professional skills, and we won't be a nation of ignorant zombies.

Then rejoin the EU, it might bring in investment, as it did before, despite the wall of lies Honest Nigel so eloquently spoke for the best part of 20 years, from his well paid position in the European Union - then deport him to Rwanda.

It may all make sense again

Educate yourself about the Tufton Street gang. It could serve you well.

A quick google search the NIESR was founded in 1938 It is not affiliated with any political party or university and receives no core government funding. Like I said time will tell.

I suggest you do more than a cursory google. Look at more recent times. Look at Tufton Street. Look at the revolving door of so called experts between places like the Taxpayers Alliance, the Spectator, NIESR, look at some of the ‘conservative’ MP groups and who frequents them.

The NIESR is not a credible bunch of independent economists. They were huge advocates of Trussonomics and their mouthpiece who heavily advised her is now in the Lords.

It doesn’t take much critical thinking to understand who these opaque organisations serve. And here’s a spoiler. It’s not you.

I agree almost entirely, except for the bit about Fartage; Rwanda is far too good for him.

No changes forthcoming to income tax, VAT or (employee) NI. Everything else is fair game!
