Interesting how the views differ, Bolton journo Marc Iles saying it was a nasty challenge for the second yellow. 3 league games and 2 red cards isn't good enough and will cost us in the long run. https://x.com/MarcIles/status/1956735458471207149?t=bmksC83J1c-m8B1ngJxHMA&s=19
Ref and some naivety surrounding Vimal cost the win there but they looked good against a potentially strong team. Shame Cleary never really got a touch when he came on. Would have loved to see how the subs would have worked on an even playing field. Farrugia needed to calm down. But cannot complain with any of them.
A solid performance. Thought we'd have won it had we had 11 men for the full game. Ref was predictably wânk.
Good point against a very good team,Yoganathan staying on might av been another story. keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
Much better footballing team than them. They play anti football and the officials clearly favoured them and they still came away with same as us. Up the reds. Personally thought some of passing was excellent at times at this level.
I thought Farrugia just tried way too hard to make an impact, defensively I thought we looked alot better. Some dodgy moments but we're definitely going in the right direction. DKD had an off day too, which I think he was due, hopefully he can bag a couple and get back to it.
Good point. Great start to the second half with Didzy’s cool finish after a superb assist from Luca. We looked comfortable and they didn’t really trouble us until the sending off. It was harsh but ultimately the right decision – though I do think their player made the most of the follow-through contact. We were impressive even after going down to ten, while they huffed and puffed without much effect. Frustratingly, we let them back in from a sloppy set piece, but managed to see the game out from there. All things considered, happy with the point. Connell was the main man for me.
Blimey! How can that individual call himself a referee?? I'm not going to criticise any of our players after his showing (although some haven't been at the top of their game). Feeling really bitter tonight.
That there’s disappointment in not having won that game in those circumstances shows how far we’ve come since last season. We’re desperate for at least one centre forward and we’re not the finished article by any means, but I think we’re in for a good season.
Jist seen 2nd yellow. Awful decision. Loose ball both go in both get ball. Their player rolls around. Yellow. Utter **** referring. Should be struck off
All in all we have to be happy to have not lost that game and I’m not going to pass too much judgement performance wise - but we’ve clearly got issues to address in the team and squad. Very pleased with the effort and grit though. I also think CH was very naive to leave Vimal on the field. Was always going to give the ref a decision at some point once on a booking and he was likely to go off for Kelly after 60 mins ish anyway - really don’t see why that wasn’t done at HT. Pointless whinging about officiating too much, but it should be highlighted at least. Refs aren’t going to get any better. They’re **** in this league. That isn’t news. Three games. Two red cards and a penalty against. Bugger all for us. A charge for ‘failing to control our players’ when our squad essentially stuck up for a player who was pinned to the floor - I mean ok, we’ll answer the charge - but that player was also booked for the heinous crime of being pinned to the floor - later getting another yellow. CH should choose his words carefully - but certainly needs to mention it. They are contentious, all three key decisions. Arguably all wrong - maybe not the penalty - though definitely shouldn’t all be going against one team when similar or worse incidents aren’t being treated the same in the same games. So like I say - something needs to be said, if with carefully chosen words. But in all likelihood they won’t be the worst decisions we get all season. Just have to suck it up and hope we get some our way.
I think Vimal is a little headstrong, likes to get involved, good player I like him but needs to calm darn a bit.
I didn't rate Bolton that much and thought that we allowed them far too much time and space after the sending off without giving them anything to worry about but like you say it's a decent point when all things considered
No worries though,Yonganathan can be replaced on Tuesday by either Russell,Bland or Kelly depending on Peterborough as an opponent.Id also start Watson as he looks more than capable and it's his natural position.
I can pick and choose you are right - new season, different tactics and different mentality. Your negativity on everything will never change thougb - that's for sure
Vimal clearly plays the ball he’s not out of control and his foot doesn’t really leave the floor unfortunately he’s the victim of footballs terrible rules in this day and age and it’s spoiling the game
