Well, in terms of optics, that was bad for Ukraine and Europe. Deferred completely to Putin. Limousine ride, red carpet, no questions answered, no rambling soliloquy's, nothing agreed, no challenge, Putin spoke first.

Putin states the war wouldn't have happened if Trump had been President before, Trump says Russia didn't hand him his first election win. Clearly, given they could have said anything, this gives further credence to their untruth.

I suspect Trump will have his tail between his legs for a few days before he starts his rants about Zelenskyy. Forget Epstein, it's his Russian links that should be uncovered and shouted about more.

Biggest terrorist nation on the planet, USA. Hosting such as Netanyahu and Putin, both international pariahs wanted by the ICC for crimes against humanity.

It wasn’t lost on me that yesterday marked the five-year anniversary of the Taliban entering Kabul and regaining control of Afghanistan, after Trump’s Doha agreement with them a year earlier.

    The world is nuts.

I don't know if you saw that the UN summit to reduce the impact of plastic was torpedoed by the petrostates and the US. US wanted any agreement to only be voluntary... So it could be totally ignored.

Plastic production is expected to reach 1bn tonnes per annum in the next 35 years. Half of all plastic is single use. Plastic is in our bodies. It's been found in the deepest ocean and on the highest mountain. It's in our soil, water and air and we don't know what diseases it will cause or facilitate, but as with so many other critical things, it's hardly made the news.

    We don't stand a chance.

Your last line is stark, and true.

It’s the generations to come I feel sorry for.

Let’s see what the orange ðickhead has in store for European leaders later. Although he will probably go against everything he says/agrees by the end of the week.

Bet Putin is sat in one of his palace’s laughing his çock off.

Putin won't give up land he's pinched so Ukraine sadly have little choice because if they say no to whatever the terrible offer is, many more people will get killed.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but many people will be killed regardless. Putin wants Ukraine. While ever he's alive, he'll commit as much blood as is needed to get what he wants.

If he stops, it's because he's got what he needs in the short term to allow him to regroup and take a bit more in 5 years time.

I wonder if JD Vance will be all Billy Bigbollox when Zelensky has Europe's leaders alongside him this time.

Putin stole Crimea and USA looked a soft touch as Obama didn't do a thing. The world sat back and let them host a World Cup. Sleepy Joe didn't help Ukraine and the invasion happened on his watch.

The main thing is people need to be stopped getting killed by the war. Let's see if peace is any closer today.

There's no such thing as peace in the head of someone who doesn't value life. Until he takes Ukraine and makes it Russia, he'll keep going, any 'Peace' is merely a pause. He's relying on NATO not going to war with him, and given he owns Trump, he knows NATO lacks teeth.

Desperately hope I'm wrong, but I can only see these 'negotiations' ending with Ukraine being bullied into ceding their occupied territories.

Must be their time soon. Trump's 80 next year and has McDonald's everyday. Dunno about Putin's lifestyle but he's the wrong side of 70.

Followed by Trump demanding the Nobel peace prize and people like Dreamboy lapping it up.

Just took a short drive to walk the dog. Turned on the radio in the middle of a massive Trump rant about gerrymandering and their plan to ban all voting by mail. I was just thinking this was an odd thing to be on UK radio when he finally shut up. Then there was a sudden rabble of media voices and the Zelensky starts answering a question about peace talks. You genuinely couldn't make it up.

Trump banging on about postal votes is all due to Putin telling him that the last election was stolen from him due to postal voting and dodgy counting. I wonder how Putin ever knew about postal voting and rigged voting numbers, it’s not like he’s the master of voter suppression and rigging :oops:

Saw that. I think Trump works on ‘if I say someone else agreed with me, it must be real’

There are definitely some parallels with Munich 1938. Initial meeting where the country at issue wasn't even at the table. Suggestions that the Ukrainians /Czechs in 1938 could give up land and that would resolve future conflict. Belief that Putin/Hitler in 1938 would have no more demands and could be placated. Definitely some similarities.
