1) We are still suspect at the back. A better team would have filled their boots tonight. 2) we look so good going forward. Woodwork and their keeper and some wasteful final decisions stopped an avalanche tonight 3) Someone soon is going to get a right tooling. Maybe it will be Wimbledon on Saturday. Because if everything clicks .... Ureds
Agree with those 3 points. Maybe “fill their boots” is a bit much but they certainly should’ve punished us at times. But they didn’t. We got a clean sheet and another win. You reds!
A lot of us, me included, were forecasting us getting 3 or 4 tonight, so let's not underestimate a Wimbledon team who've beat Lincoln and Reading and only lost to Luton and Cardiff by a single goal in the final minutes. Could be tricky.
Yes, agree x 3 although I don't think the Wombles will be anyone's mugs. Over to the owners now. Two good CBs and a CF in the next 12 days and Conor has what it takes to get us up imho.
1) I don't entirely agree with that purely on tonight's performance. Cooper made a good save in the first half and they had a couple of other decent chances yes, but i thought we looked pretty solid especially as the game went on. 2) I do agree with this and some of our play in their half was brilliant to watch, on another day we'd have bagged 5 or 6. 3) I'd love to agree but we don't seem to do that unfortunately, last big win being the 7-0 vs Port Vale at the start of Collins's tenure. I'd take another 1-0 win on Saturday. And I'd like to acknowledge the graft every player put in tonight too, we genuinely looked stronger as the game went on and I can't say I thought that in any game last season.
I thought up to about 60 minutes, we were pretty lucky. The last half hour, the intensity Peterborough showed just vanished and we probably should have had 4 or more. Some very poor or casual finishing and they could quite easily have scored right at the very death. I think we deserved the 3 points but there were a number of moments we caused ourselves undue pressure and we could’ve conceded. I’m still not sure about how our front 4 are set up and maybe the personnel. If we could get that set up better and have a replacement striker to use McGoldrick in shorter bursts, there could be some exciting games ahead. Some of the passing and composure on the ball is really enjoyable to watch. I still think we’ve got to move one of ‘the 4’ on at least, so depending on which one/s that is, it might potentially help us to structure that front line better. Some flashes of excellent play, a few poor decisions and wobbles that we got away with, but overall more positive steps. Onto the next.
We hit the post twice and had we got our shooting boots on we could easily have had a couple of goals 1st half. 2nd half we made some poor decisions on when to pass or shoot. If Phillips squares to Cleary late on instead of blasting at their goalie it's 2-0 and goodnight, but it will come and 10 points from 12 while we gel is beyond dreaming.....COYR
I think Peterborough making their subs helped us out. Instantly you could tell there was much more space in midfield, and Kelly took advantage of that with some excellent play. Taking it past 4 players & getting fouled, he looked flawless..!
I'll be clear, I agree Wimbledon have had a solid start and I didn't want to portray them as pushovers. Respect. The way we are attacking, I would have used the name of any opponent we would be facing. It's coming.
If so remember, not to make a racket then Im not stringing you along, but personally I think the reds win 4 0, love it will be a case of game set and match I'll get mi coite
