I’d not seen it mentioned that the Authoritarian nut job sacked the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for producing an independent report that undermined his lies about US economic performance.

This is what’s so dangerous about fascism. The authoritarian streak to dismantle truth and fact, to pick battles with the reasonable and the factual.

This is what awaits us if enough people choose light weight liars who create fear and division for the feeling of power, rather than to do good with it.

Just didn't like the baiting of others.

 

I mean, as far as I can see he was literally responding to comments by that person.

Someone who can easily stand up for themself and does so.

 

For years you campaigned against politics… obviously on the basis it didn’t match your personal views. Then you dive right in and are one of the main protagonists for criticising this government. Which is fine, your choice, free speech.

But as soon as Farage or Trump are criticised, this is how you go. Yet you go under the pretence “they’re all the same” and can’t bring yourself to criticise these particular two that belong to the hard right and potentially beyond.

Just own your choices. Many others do.

And if political discussion vexes you so, try a different thread or start some other topic that you want to discuss or engage in.

 

I like Mansfield red he's a good poster we never agree on much, just haven't seen him engage in any of the football threads this new season. Just thought I'd ask him his thoughts.

I'm absolutely loving Gavin Newsome and his team mimicking Trump's social media posts online and the right wing media absolutely losing their minds about it.

They have already produced hundreds if not thousands of sound bites berating the posting style as childish and unbecoming of someone with presidential ambitions. I don't think they're going to realise what they've done until the edited videos start appearing.

It's kind of depressing that it's taken so long to realise that parody is an effective challenge to the nonsense we've been enduring, and even more depressing that this is what politics is reduced to. It's funny, but it should have been funny in 2016 and helped put a stop to Trump's presidential candidacy. It should have been a thing for a couple of weeks, adding to the the overwhelming evidence that Donald Trump cannot possibly be the President of the United States of America. Of course he can't be, it's a ludicrous suggestion. And yet here we are.

I don't know, I'm so jaded by what our world has become that I've given up.
