Do you accept that the 20:1 pensions ratio you mentioned earlier is obviously absolute b0llocks?

It certainly won’t be required when everyone is forced to get health insurance and go private, which is the desire of the Fagash Fuhrer. No need for the NHS then

    so he’s going to:
    1. remove everyone’s human rights
    2. Arrest migrants, hmm good luck with that one
    3. Strike deals with countries who wont strike deals (and hate Farage)
    4. Sindhis find 24000 beds in former military bases (nimbys might get upset here)
    3. Move immigrants to ascension, where there’s no houses.

im sure there’s a hundred things wrong with it but the gullible won’t care.

The tories tried this, they paid 15m for a site that the owners had paid 6m for 12 months before and found it was contaminated to the point it couldn't be used. It was a colossal **** up from start to finish which attracted a surprising lack of media attention. Ozempic Jenrick's doing.

We'll just carry on how it's going people migrants entering the country illegally at a record rate. Over 25k so far this year. The pledge to "smash the gangs" is embarrassing

The ONLY problem with the “small boats” is that successive governments have ensured that’s the easiest method for claiming asylum. It’s pathetic the hoops they make people fleeing war jump through.

Open up a safe legal passage and the small boats stop overnight.

Nearly halved the number of ‘asylum seekers’ in hotels in 12 months of government. Unfortunately, stopping the boat crossings isn’t something that’s easily fixed and will take time even assuming the plan to do so is perfect. So I don’t think anything ‘immigration’ based can be used as a stick to beat Starmer with. And don’t forget, it was Patel who ramped up the use of hotels, and then Jenrick even further. And, one of the key reasons it’s so tough to “stop the boats” is the UK decision to leave the EU. You know, the thing that messers Johnson and Farage fought so hard for.

    Grifters gonna grift.

I can’t stand Starmer. I think this Labour government is horrendous. Only yesterday did I read that we’re likely to be giving £2bn to Israel’s largest arms manufacturer, to train our soldiers in cutting-edge military simulations. Urban warfare. The use of drones and bomb-copters etc. You know, the stuff that’s going on in Gaza. Killing innocent civilians.
The same company that Palestine Action were regularly taking direct action against.

Can folk see why they were proscribed yet?

So yeah. Starmer and Labour have enough blood on their hands. Don’t think immigration is something they can be blamed for after 12 months.

Just for balance and whilst the numbers may have gone up, it’s also worth noting the reductions. Strangely no one in the right wing press or media seems to want to mention those reductions.

Everything is about tax with them. Everything. Anything that sounds like it’s about anything else (e.g. immigration) is just a vehicle to get people to complain about taxes being wasted so they can promise to lower them in response.

I have to be honest and say given there clearly is a safe and ‘legal’ way for people to claim asylum, why do the people using the boat method use such a risky and costly method is it as simple as they have been rejected already so turn to pure desperation?

What is the safe and legal way for a refugee to get to the UK and claim asylum if they don't have a passport and cannot access one in their home country?

I don’t claim to be an expert that’s why I’m asking. I read there are legal ways for immigrants to come and also boats. I find it hard to believe there is no way what so ever to enter legally without a passport is that true?

edit: quick google search found this:
Article 31 of the Refugee Convention:
This international law, also incorporated into UK law, states that asylum seekers should not be penalized for having lacked proper documentation when fleeing persecution, provided they presented themselves to the authorities promptly

I understand that law... But I can't see how you pass through a port or airport to board a boat, train or plane to the UK without documents? The carriers liability act 2000 puts financial penalties on any company transporting people into the UK without proper documentation. What carrier is going to take responsibility for that.

The enhanced checks in ports means noone is getting in as stowaways and because checks are made prior to UK soil they are unable to claim asylum when found.

Then the 2023 illegal migration act is meant to stop anyone arriving illegally from claiming asylum but that just doesn't hold weight once you have feet on the ground here. The above refugee convention means their claim still has to be processed and the 2023 act is just designed to dissuade people from coming.

So there’s no process in place for them to go to the nearest authority and process from there?
