Arne Slot what a pillock , how dare Newcastle play long balls and long throws and play to their strengths especially with ten men .
Of course I’ve seen it I wouldn’t comment on it if I hadn’t. It doesn’t take a lot of contact to leave a mark on a leg. Certainly not with the boots we wear these days. If everyone got sent off whenever we leave a mark on each other there would be a lot of 7 a side games.
I’m not fussed one way or another about Newcastle. I remember the 1982 thing but I was only 12. As you say, every club has idiots. I’m just not a fan of the non stop media hype around Liverpool. “Most knowledgeable fans in the world “ ******. Who decided that? How? Was there a test? Just media hype. And in my experience fans of other teams would have said “Yes that was jammy” Not heard that yet from one of them.
It was lucky tonight - watching it the pub and they are saying it.was lucky and Newcastle deserved better. As I said know plenty of decent Liverpool fans at work and as friends
Not getting that at all, really. They're no more or less humble than fans of most clubs. Fantastic win for them tonight, against a battling Newcastle side; one they should rightly celebrate wildly, just as we would in the same situation. For sure, not at anywhere near their best, but I doubt they're worrying about that tonight. I struggle to sit through most PL games these days, but that was a cracker, with an amazing ending.
And that’s fair enough. I don’t think a yellow is a clear and obvious error so I don’t think it should have been overturned
Yep, as clear a red as you'll see. Raked studs right down VVD's calf onto his heel, with great force and at speed. Gordon had lost his head completely.
Absolutely brilliant for the young kid scoring the winner. Not sure how you can dispute the lack of humility from the Liverpool fans I know. Unless you know them? As a Barnsley fan only (well unless you count Hallam) I have no allegiance anywhere else. I know fans of many clubs. But I know which clubs I think have the most arrogant fans. May be different in your experience.
See next post. You can break someone’s leg & it not be a red card offence. Just because you can see a mark on someone’s leg shouldn’t mean it’s a red card offence. Just to clarify I don’t think it’s wrong that someone thinks it’s a red card offence however I do disagree that a yellow card is a clear & obvious error.
I talked about people I know. You talked about people in general. So not weird. I think we agree we have different experiences.
Agreed, highlights show him accidentally raking down the back of his calf, pulling his sock down and leaving 2 long lines. It was a pretty poor out of control challenge. Edit: 1:02 here
I've seen plenty of worse challenges but if I was Eddie Howe I'd be absolutely livid with Gordon just for the pointlessness of it. It's one thing to go flying in when it's a last ditch attempt to prevent a goal (and it would usually be a defender doing that, who's likely to be a lot better at tackling than Anthony Gordon) but to do something like that when the opposition are well inside their own half and the danger levels are literally zero - well it somewhat defies belief.
