Might be a good time for a ticket deal. Free Brighton ticket with every Reading League match ticket. £30
So Brighton visit us, can we say this is a good or a bad draw ?. Will they send a reserve team, well let's wait and see!.
Would have preferred to be visiting a new ground, but a Prem team at home should create some interest. I fear for our defence though, could be a long night.
In most major English domestic cups (Premier League and FA Cup), loan players are generally not allowed to play against their parent clubs, due to rules set by the Football Association and the Premier League. However, an exception exists in the Carabao Cup (League Cup), where a player can face their parent club, but only with the parent club's written consent.
Wouldn't be able to combine 2 different competitions in a deal and dunno how they would work out the Brighton share of gate receipts.
I think Oxford made a lot of changes as well Andy. Be interesting to see what our squad will look like next week after the window shuts.
For those not award What a season that was 81/82. Round 1 Thrashed Peterborough over 2 legs 9-2 Round 2 Beat Swansea (top div) over 2 legs. 4-3 Round 3 Thrashed Brighton (top div) 4-1 Round 4 Beat man city (top div.) 1-0 Then lost to the best team in Europe. (European cup winners 1981) after a replay. Liverpool.
I think it's a good draw. Now Leeds and Man U can only dream of playing Barnsley. How sad, too bad, never mind.
It's in my memory bank beating 3 (now premier) 1st Division at the time. Then going to Anfield with around 17 ,000 reds fans out singing the kop to draw 0 0 in one of the greatest nights watching the reds. Brighton not the best draw but not the worst ,as were at home and are not expected to beat them. 10 points on the board ,3 rd Round o cup . You would have took this at the start of the season.
One of my favourite ever seasons. Went to every game home and away that season, only time I've ever done that (unlike you warriors these days lol). Best Barnsley team in my lifetime. There's some grainy footage of the Brighton game on YouTube. Think they were top 6 in the old 1st division at the time and we absolutely battered them.
Yes I can honestly say ,this was the only time watching the reds ,I went home and away. And it was brilliant watching these boys in Red playing one touch football. Maybe being single influenced this, but memorable times.
