ODI Eng vs SA

Poor lad

 

I was there. Waste of a day off and a princely sum of money!

 

I was in the park and stride near to the ground. It was a tenner and took an hour to get out of. You'd think after all the years of use they would have thought up a system to get traffic moving quicker.

 

It sounds familiar

 

There was one exit down a concrete pathway single file. But you had cars trying to cut across to it from the grass rather than going from the grass to the back of the queue on the concrete.

Then outside the exit you've the road traffic which you rely on letting cars in to the lane, but it's almost at a standstill and because it finished so early it was rush hour.

There was an older lady in her South Africa short who got out of her car to give someone an earful for not trying to get in to the queue, thus holding up all the cars behind it on the grass.

 

It would have all been easier to accept if we’d put up a better performance but …..

I'm a bit disappointed they've dropped Baker. I know he took some stick on debut but the fault lies with our batters not him. He's a confident lad so I think dropping him will dent him more than letting him have another go

 

I’m totally with you on that.
However, he may have been told not to expect playing all 3 games and told that old chestnut how important it is just to gain experience etc.

 

May as well have let Baker have another go rather than Bethel. Not looking great although we have now got Stubbs out!

 

Who is this Bethell? is he in for his fielding ability? He doesn't seem very good at Batting (no first class 100) or bowling.

Him & Jacks gushed 112 runs off 10 overs between them.

 

Why in the blue hell they thought Jack's and Bethell should be bowling 10 overs against one of the best ODI sides in the world is beyond me. Jack's is a part time bowler and Bethell is a batsman who should be bowling the odd change/novelty over.

How either of them are keeping Ahmed out is beyond me. I imagine in most matches, in all forms, he'd beat them both combined for both runs and wickets

 

I'm not convinced about Brook for captain either tbf

He needs a rest. Mentally shot I reckon.

Had a poor Hundred too.

He plays all formats and barely sits any match out - his preference - but I think a battery recharge might be in order.

 

Weird obsession with Bethell seems to be contagious. As soon as Duckett was out BBc sport changes the page headline to "Root and Bethell link up". Bethell has faced 4 balls!

 

Well if he can carry on flashing the bat and get a few more sixes I'll start to believe the hype! His bowling was **** though!

 

Done nothing for ages. Guy needs a rest.
