Be interesting to see what happens to this one. Speaking truth to power, on their own walls. Covered up and protected like the other works in London, or condemned and removed as quickly as possible?

Banksy is massively overrated, it's just graffiti and no different to any other hooligan illegally spraying on walls. In my opinion

I think he is over rated, in general, but it's clearly different to tagging your name on a building.

That piece is good, but I do wonder how he got it done.

Already been covered up apparently. Tried stopping people taking photos. ******* :D

A painting by Banksy of a judge using a gavel to beat a helpless protester appeared on the walls of the Royal Courts of Justice before quickly being covered up by guards.

Banksy confirmed the artwork was his by posting a picture of it on Instagram on Monday morning.

Local workers said security guards were in position in front of the artwork, which is thought to be a reference to pro-Palestine protests.

One, Matteo, said he passed by at 8.30am on Monday when the guards were trying to stop people from taking pictures. More staff then arrived with supplies to cover it up.

Yes I get the difference between that and just a name. I meant morally I see no difference

I think it's absolutely fascinating how he hasn't been rumbled by now. In the era of CCTV and always-on social media, it's remarkable really. HTF do you do pieces like this and 'Dover', without being spotted? I personally think Banksy, whoever he is/they are, is genius. I think the street work alone is incredibly clever, but that's just part of it. Love Is In The Bin, Dismaland, Walled Off Hotel, Exit Through The Gift Shop. All outstanding IMO.

My guess is he creates the stencils but other people do the actual painting.

    Could be wrong though

It’s art isn’t it, I don’t think it’s possible for art to be ‘overrated’

ultimately, people like what he does, they will ‘rate’ it. The more people that rate it and erm, there we have it - it’s impossible to be overrated. I’m not sure if I have conveyed that eloquently enough but I know what I mean at least.

I’ve been really into his stuff and a few other similar artists like eelus, Dface, space invader etc from very early beginnings, strangely being made aware of Banksy by a random article in ZOO magazine. There were numerous artists and stablemates that sold their wares via POW, but Banksy did always stand out purely because he was able to get his message over with a little more clarity. His stuff started selling out quicker than the others and then it all went insane with the values going through the roof. Within the space of a few months pieces which were £75 unsigned and £150 signed were worth tens of thousands of pounds , celebs buying and a media frenzy. But overrated ? Nah not for me. Art is a personal thing , like music.

I definitely think it's possible that what started off as one person (probably this Gunningham bloke) could now be a collective (hence using 'they'). Whoever it is that's doing the actual spraying though - how they haven't been caught just baffles me. I really do hope that one day, he reveals his true identity and how he managed to pull it all off.

One is a political statement, the other standard graffiti. Morally therefore, it's fine imo.

I can, only imagine they pretend to be repair workers posing as gas/electricity etc and put a tent round it? Or maybe I've seen too many heist films? :D I'd imagine it's near on impossible to do if you just stroll up and stencil it? Or maybe they can do it in no time.
