Sorry. You lost me. Protesting genocide is getting offended on everyone's behalf? Even if they were claiming that how is it different to shouting at Hotels and claiming they represent everyone?

Have you considered that providing weaponry and intelligence to genocidal regimes literally creates refugees and asylum seekers? Just like our invasion of Afghanistan did..

You don't have to care about the causes supported by "do gooders" but why come on here and attack them because someone posted an article about the latest in a long line of far right protestors claiming to protect our kids but turning out to be sex offenders?

 

These hotel protests cost on average, over £100,000 per week to police by all accounts. They’ve been going on since the start of July. That’s a lot of wasted money.

 

I know you've probably been told this before - several times, but asylum seekers aren't illegal immigrants. They are classed as irregular migrants under the UN Refugee convent until their claim is assessed. Once their claim is declined - and their appeal rejected - they then become illegal. This is currently about 20% of those arriving on small boats.

Most Illegal immigrants walk through Heathrow or Dover (or other airports) with a valid visa that is either wrong for their stay (e.g. a tourist visa when they intend to work) or they overstay at the end of it.

 

I've lost count of the number of times this has been explained to them on this very board, let alone elsewhere.

I think it’s because they can’t possibly believe that it’s true because it’s such a stupid and ridiculous system. Therefore they make excuses and try to come up with reasons against. However, except for very specific, narrow named schemes (e.g. for Ukrainians), some of which have now ended, it really is that stupid.

 

I think some people dont want to face facts. They dont want to think too deeply about it and therefore anyone who suggests the entire problems of society are down to a few thousand foreigners arriving on flimsy dinghys ( they're not really boats) will get traction. That and racism from some. The only way to counter this is for politicians with bottle to try and change the narrative. Badenoch, Davey and Starmer in particular don't do it though. They legitimise stupid, easy criticisms of foreigners and so the protests grow loud. I'm absolutely fed up to the back teeth of weak- willed so-called progressive politicians pandering to these people and yet arresting grannies for holding up bits of card.
