£700k for Goldbourne

    I don't doubt his payrise will be vast with them having parachute payments from the premiership still. But he's just come back from a serious long term injury and if for whatever reason he gets another he could have struggled to find a club when out of contract next summer. I don't blame him for wanting to go.

    I'd expect the Express and Star report to be more on the mark than the Exeter one with regard to selling fee, so I assume the £700k is the most reliable figure.

    If so, I think that's good business for a player we signed for £85k, even allowing for a sell-on clause.

    He's been a good player, but much of the end of season form which saved us last season was done without him, and his limitations of always needing to cut in to get on his left-foot were obvious.

    I'd be inclined to try and develop RNL now to take on this role long-term, but have no complaints at us doing the deal.
