    It’s essentially using bots to read tweets. there used to be an API to get tweets (aka a way for other systems to read tweets without having to load the website) but musk inexplicably put that behind a massive subscription fee.

    I’m 99% sure the “this is a limit on how many you can read a day” is ******** though. Their contract with google for server hosting ran out on the 30th and he didn’t want to continue paying for it, so they were scrambling to move hosts.

    My guess is it hasn’t gone to plan and their severs are overloaded so this is his excuse for why people are getting errors.

    Limiting the posts per day isn’t the way to stop web scraping, they’ll just use multiple accounts… the way to stop scraping is putting limits per second on which would never impact normal users.
