Tomorrow will mark the 300th day anniversary of Michael's appointment at Oakwell. I think his impact, along with the change in the board, has been fantastic and has brought the club and fans back together after the disastrous Conway era. Hopefully Michael will be around for some time to come despite the crazy managerial merry go round which sees his tenure of just 300 days place him 46th out of the 92 managers in terms of length of time in role. Or put another way, since his appointment 45 clubs have changed manager.
Best thing to happen to our club in a long time. He is the right fit for us and has the right ethos. Hope he stays for at least another 300 days.
We need to keep him. Apparently he drives home after a sat game, the least the club could do is supply a car and driver for him to go home and back in a stress free and comfortable manner, how much would that cost in relation to loosing him because a club nearer home tempts him away. OR, the directors could between them hire a helicopter to shorten the journey. IMO, that's how important I think he is to our future.
Absolutely, the impact he's made is remarkable and speaks volumes about his ability and personality. I hope and have a good feeling that he's a man to see things through, and promotion or not there's plenty to go with this current setup. In terms of Duff's personal life, West Brom, Birmingham, Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol City or Coventry might all be realistic, appealing destinations. I hope the instability of some of those clubs and his track record of getting settled in a job will be enough to keep him at Oakwell a while longer yet!
I think he should stay at least until he's got us a penalty (Checks back in 2026 and Duff is still manager). In all seriousness he's done a great job, has brought on the players so much both individually and collectively and speaks the language of the fans. I genuinely think that he'll stay with us while ever he feels we and he can progress together* - he only really left Cheltenham because he felt he'd taken them as far as they could go. The only exceptions to that might be a Burnley in the Championship (fortunately they won't be next season) or a Bristol City. (* - If we do go up this season there will be an immediate test of this in terms of the Board backing him with the additions we would need in for the Championship).
I really like Michael Duff, very passionate guy. I usually sit quite close to the dug out so I can hear everything been said. If the players aren't pulling their weight he definitely let's them know! "Herbie, Herbie. Stop being a lazy **** & make effort!" He obviously expects the best from his players!
Said it before, will say it again, and again, and again.......MD is our best manager since Danny Mark 1. Promotion or not this season we should hold on to hom as long as we can and cherish him. His fit for our club is perfect. Well done Khaled. Great appointment.
