I'm on PlusNet and according to their stats I use about 50Mb per day (mainly evenings) with just normal web browsing such as pratting about on here.

On Tuesday I listened to the match commentary, and the stats for that day are 240Mb, so your 500Mb would soon be gone.

PlusNet costs £5.99 and I get 10Gb usage per month, 20 times the 500MB you mention, but obviously not mobile.

    Its not a lot

If all you do is a bit of web browsing and a few emails it will be OK - but you will soon burn it if you start dowloading any music or video

For example if you want to download or even stream last nights questiontime you will blow the entire 500Meg and then some

    I have 60Gb per month

And they got quite shirty about it when I exceeded it. So I got quite shirty back. So they throttled my connection to dial-up speed. Barstewards.

    Is that from PlusNet?

I get nowhere near my limit, and it's free from midnight to 8am, so I try to do large downloads then as far as possible.

When I signed up I didn't realise that PlusNet sponsor Wednesday! What a balls up. 18 month contract as well. Hope they don't get shirty with me!

    Thats going some

I sometimes do 2G in a day but not very often - to keep that up for a whole month after month is definitey quite impressive.

    The X-Files.

Well, 2 words and a letter. You see it's just that kind of profligacy that lands me in trouble - "Oh what the hell, let's call it 3 words".

If anyone's interested then if you were to, hypothetically, download the entire 9 series of the X-Files then you'd find it runs to 69Gb.

It's supposed to be unlimited but in practice they all have fair usage policies. Which they considered me to be in breach of. Although actually they were the only ones who broke the contract as they didn't give me any warning of throttling my connection, which their terms and conditions said they would.

Wouldn't it have been better all round to have simply bought The X-Files DVDs? That way you own a lovely product in a fancy box and that, your internet still works great, you don't have all the stress of having to deal with your ISP and you haven't broken the law. Or am I missing something?

I'll stick with the dee dar ISP then!

Personally I think all this so-called fair usage policy is almost inevitably going to lead to arguments. How can something described as "unlimited" have a "limit"?????

Why can't they just say 60GB, 100GB, 150GB etc so people can pay for what they want with no arguments.

I'm in Korea on 100mb/sec broadband and I do about 5GB a day...

Not that any of that is helpful, I just want to show off.
