Paul could you ask the Club how many members of the 1912 Club there are and if the Club thinks the Catigory system has been a success or a total lovely person* up?

    Why ask the Club?

The cat system was there idea so why not ask the Club?

What a bloody stupid post that was. Who are we supposed to ask Ken Bates?

There was a discussion about the category system and the changes this year at the last meeting with the club. I think there has been a significant number of takers something of the magnitude DT mentioned. The club pointed out that if you buy an Oakwell 1912 Club membership and attend all the games this season you would pay about the same as last year taking into account the VAT rise.

I would think it's too early for them to say if it has been a success or not. Leicester fans claim that even though they had 2,200 there yesterday a significant number (1000+) opted to boycott the game. Clearly if this is the case it wasn't a success on this occasion especially if you look at the home support. I'm not sure when I last saw so many empty Ponty end seats in a championship game.

The club also say that they have roughly matched the categories with those of the opposing club. e.g. we're a CAT C at Watford and they are a CAT C when there fans come to us.

Next weekends game will be an interesting comparison from a home support point of view assuming people realise it's £16 a ticket. Spread the word - perhaps a significant increase through the turnstyles may make the club think twice about this pricing system.

Personally, I think £30 it too expensive. I know plenty of people who have rules that they wont go to an away game that costs say more than £25. Im sure Barnsley fans arent unique to this way of thinking. I guess some of these folk will apply the same thinking now to home games. I dont think a £30 ticket helps encourage the floating fan or those occasions when you've got some mates or family staying and you invite them along.

That can't be right. Most of our games are Cat A, I can't imagine we are a Cat A for many clubs other than Leeds and Donny. I would imagine we are a C for many more.

so if we all hate this CAT A ******, we HAVE to make a stand..
its no point us moaning 24/7 about it.
im not saying it will change or that we could do much. but as Gally says, we need to do what small bit we all can.
so to any of us not going currently, i implore u to get down to Oakwell next week.
also, we should all tell everybody we know, in any way possible, be it online or in person, or a txt, phone-call. lets try and get a decent crowd in for Watford. if we could touch 15 thousand plus...? well, im sure that would raise a few eyebrows at the club.
maybe not. but believe me, if come next saturday we have a similar gate to the last 3, it will just prove the clubs decision was correct..
we all know theres AT LEAST 5 thousand proper fans missing. theres also another 10 out there on a good day..
so ill be doing my damnedest this week to convince a few to get down the Well next week..
the only way this crazy category system will maybe pay off, is if we continue to perform like yestdy, week in week out. because its much easier to part with ur money when the teams winning. ask orsenkaht.
    ;-D

What a strange way of setting out a pricing structure. Go on what other clubs do. I think it has escaped the clubs notice that barnsley is a less than affluent northern town where people are on less than the average national wage and a high level of unemployment.
twenty five quid is too much to watch people kick a ball up and down a field for hour and a half. Value for money? Not on this planet.
Spent thirty quid yesterday in Leeds. two meals and two tickets in the posh seats at the cinema and had change.
As a whole football crowds have fallen whilst the price has increased. Coincidence?

I dont know that actual categories and that information is hard to find (how does BFC know what category we will be in March for an away game when the away team in question hasnt chosen what category the match will be for example?) but on actual prices I have just done a straw poll of a few clubs (mainly the ones who we've just played or are playing soon (ie those with easily found prices) and the results are staggering really

BFC fans pay £24 at Millwall, Millwall fans pay £30 at Oakwell.
We pay £25 at Birmingham, they pay £30 here
£23 at Portsmouth, £30 at Oakwell
    Forest £25, Oakwell £30
BFC fans at Reading £23. Reading fans at BFC, £30

BFC quite simply are NOT charging them what they charge us.

What is the comparison of categories rather than prices?

Are you agreeing that the fans pay too much for on the gate tickets?

Not got a clue as categories are much harder to find out as an away fan. Not many teams are stupulid enough to announce catrgories for the entire season witjout knowing which mayvhes will have importance or be on sky etc (like we did with hull and regused to change it). Like i said i omly spent a few minutes checking orices

I'm led to believe that a lot of teams have announced their categories for the entire season but again havent checked.

It doesn't seem to add up though from what you say re away ticket prices unless a £23 ticket at Reading and £25 at Forest are CAT A prices?

    Let's face it, it's a massive **** up.

    16 Cat games at £30
    4 Cat B games at £23
    3 Cat C games at £16

if they want to keep the Category system, prices should be £23, £19 and £15

I can't believe the marketing naivety of the club at times, oh hang on, yes I can.

The club talked about the pricing this morning on Facebook. They reckon that when they've dropped prices in the past, the crowds still haven't turned out for the match. Perhaps if people turn up to this Watford game and prove to the club that lower prices equals better attendances, they'll think about making the change.

There's no excuse this weekend; cheap tickets, and a good performance and result in the last game as well.
