Now then, I'm looking to buy something off EBay, it says it's advertised elsewhere, so they have the right to end the auction early. If they don't end the auction early, and I win the bid, do they have to accept my bid or can they refuse it because it's advertised elsewhere? I was under the impression they cannot do that, but need it clearing up! Thanks in advance.
As I understand it If the auction goes on to conclude, they have to accept your bid. If the auction is terminated by the seller, there is no contract but if the auction goes on to conclusion, then the seller is contracted to sell to the winning bidder.
Thanks I thought I was right, just needed to clear it up...was more of a hypothetical question, incase it happens with an auction I'm currently involved in.
In my experience Usually what "advertised elsewhere" means is "I'm too tight to pay the extra to eBay to put a reserve on my listing so I reserve the right to pull the plug if it's going to sell too cheaply". So if your highest bid would constitute you getting a bargain, expect the item to be mysteriously sold elsewhere with 5 seconds left.
At the moment... it's going as a right bargain, but with 4 days left, it wouldn't surprise me if the price doubles, even then it'd still be a bargain! Thanks for the information though, it's a great help and I'll keep it in mind for when the time comes.
