Off for a beer tonight with my old mate Tony. He’s in his mid 80s and used to be an actor. Can barely walk now but gets to the pub. He was in an early Dr Who as an Ice Soldier. (Still gets fan mail even though he played his part with what looks like a bucket on his head), Dixon of Dock Green, Liver Birds. The Newcomers and other stuff I can’t remember. He was also the schoolteacher in David Beckham’s Nike ad way back.

Not really an A lister but he knew ‘em all. Here are just a few…

Nicholas Parsons – never bought a round. Tight as.

    Arthur Askey – see above

Cliff Richard – camp, zero personality

Patrick Troughton (Dr Who) – shagged anything that moved (including Tony’s girlfriend)

Tom Baker – big, big drinker

Wendy Richards – never got on after she criticised his driving

Bernard Cribbins – nice enough bloke but could get spikey - like when he didn’t get voted secretary of the golf club.

Harry Secombe – lovely, lovely chap

Bing Crosby – charming fellow. Tony played golf with him

Oliver Reed – arrogant, always bragging he’s been in more film than everyone else put together.

    Tony’s top two

Eric Sykes and Richard Briers – comedy geniuses and very nice chaps.

Any requests as to what an actor was like (in Tony's opinion) let me know.

Brilliant. No questions but I bet it would be an honour to sit and listen to some of the stories he has for a couple of hours over a few drinks. Enjoy .

You see, I've heard the opposite about Richard Briers, also from an Actor. Always had to be the star, the centre of everything etc. Again, don't if true or not.

Anyone who is willing to gossip to you is willing to gossip about you. Be careful Statis, Tony will no doubt have a character assassination to share with others about you; seeing as he gossips about everyone else!

Apparently, Hughie Green lived a bit of a full life with drink and drugs and was a lady’s man.
It was a while before it was confirmed that his daughter was Paula Yates.
Enjoyed the info from your mate and hope you enjoy your night

No need to worry about that. Down my local charter assassination is a pastime

Did he come across Benny Hill ( not literally) and was as bizarre as rumour would have it

Genius but as we know somewhat mad. He once walked out of a rehearsal, sat in a tree and refused to come back down. According to Tony

Ta, I wondered if his madcap manner was natural or an act.

If I'm honest one of my favorite things in life is sitting with folk older than me and listening to their life stories and the antics they not only experienced but instigated too...the people they've met
    Such a wealth of information
I bet there's never a dull moment when you are with Tony no doubt he's a very intelligent and interesting chap.
As a kid ( I'm 66 now) I recall sitting on my grandfather's knee as him and my uncles would tell stories of the past, mostly funny of instances of what they got up to in their lives
Make the most of Tony ... laugh and enjoy tonight
