Got a feeling he will be vital for us this season and will save us so many times. If we had a dodgy or less than adequate keeeper (Townsend) in goal we would have been 4 down by half time. I'm not saying we were getting battered as a team but Adam made so many great saves. I really think we should a keeper on a short term deal who is proven at Championship/League 1 sort of level. The thought of Nick Townsend in goal against Villa and Newcastle is pretty terrifying.
Really , I can remember last season Adams form was poor just like Townsend is now , but Adams he picked himself up and proved he is league 1 material not sure about championship maybe he cannot step up to the pressure of a big time game ... Townsend has had experience in the ' big game ' pressure let's see what happens.... I am very interested to see who can step up to the pressure .
Adam Davies pulled off vital saves in big games. Fleetwood jpt semi final, Sheffield United away, millwall play off final. He is a good keeper and at 23, 24 I think he will have a good career and will make the step up to championship.
Townsend is a poor goalie. Can't do the basic rights. The thing he has going for him is that he is very young in goalkeeping terms. Davies is exceptional for his age.
Disagree with you all ... The team are not good enough for championship including Adams and Townsend , Adams is ok for his age ' exceptional ' is not a word I would use.
In goalkeeping terms he's a baby. Whether he's good enough to step up or not I don't know. Let you know at the end of the season. Saves in both the JPT final, the play off final and both lay off semis were exceptional at pivotal points for us.
I agree we will see at the end of the season where our team is in the league , I hope I could be wrong and they stay in the championship . I also agree with your point mad about Adams in the JPT final and semi however my point is they played Oxford and millwall not exactly a challenge for him .
I can't. I do however remember the clown of a manager we had at the time dropping hin unjustly and replacing him with an inferior goalkeeper
Great young keeper who - like everyone - played a big part in our successes of last season. Made two world class saves yesterday, right in front of us. One with his strong right but the other, with his left hand was breathtaking. Not only saved it but pushed it to safety. I've no worries about Adam. And unlike many, I'm not too harsh in judging Townsend who was in and out during a poor run of team form, where he made a couple of big howlers. He's still at the club, which says a lot.
Townsend's a good shot stopper, but clearly his decision making needs to improve. Hopefully in his time out of the side he's been able to work on this
You can't remember ... Where were you ? .... Maybe that is why he was dropped ! Townsend is a young keeper with a lot to learn inferior isn't the word I would use just maybe inexperienced .
