I was at the Proact in Chesterfield yesterday for a charity match in aid of dementia which Ernie Moss (ex Chesterfield) suffers from (a long story, but although a Reds supporter for 47 years I did spend a couple of seasons covering Chesterfield for local radio).

One of the speakers was Alan Birch; I'd never have recognised him (see attached picture). Just realised he's the same age as me, that makes me feel young again!

Used to love seeing his name on the team sheet. He could be a real handful.

    hmm

I certainly wouldn't have recognised him either.

But then again, you'd be hard pressed to recognise me from a photo taken almost 40 years ago.

Decent player, I remember him tormenting the Luton defence at their place last game of the season 81/2. He won a penalty and we would have won but for a wonder strike from Brian Stein in the last minute.
