Officially Relegated. I have tears . Oh yes. But inside I'm so angry. So angry at how we've allowed this season to slip away. We had it in our own hands to save our disastrous season and we never turned up. Game after game after game that really mattered (they all do in our position) we never turned up. "Beam Back " today, plus three thousand Reds at Derby and our team lost 4-1 to a team gearing for the Playoffs with something to play for, but yes, so had we. An awful lot. Time after time after time I've followed them through thick and thin and will continue to do so. Given my all, spent money and then with such backroom decisions, disastrous managerial appointment to supposedly "Save us" , tinkering with a team leaving players bemused I'm left wondering "What for?" The writing was there on the wall in our second game away against Sheffield Utd. It was clear to see the team was not up to it. I left thinking that if never ever seen a team perform so poorly in a Local Derby against Sheffield United. I always hoped we'd improve from that performance. We had spells but never did. Team after team after team picked us apart and tossed us to the vultures. Virtually the whole spine of our team sold for cash and League Two players brought in to perform in the Championship where every flaw was exposed and the players expected to perform beyond their capabilities. Hecky knew and jumped ship. I'm hurting beyond belief but according to Gauthier Ganaye, the squad is not a "shambles!" Everything, my heart wants to weep uncontrollably because it was in our own hands but when the billionaire big boys come in and have the control to do what they please you know that it's out of your hands. One last thought. Apparently Championship Players see us a bit of a "Tin pot Team", not a serious place to come and play football, don't pay proper wages etc. They dismiss us out of hand. One day we will be back we will show you! Thankfully my beloved Barnsley FC will March on and when everyone else has gone, the vultures, those who laugh and mock at us, I'll still be there next season, season ticket clutched in hand as I have been forever. You Reds ! Hurting like mad and eyes misted with tears.
That day at sheff u was when I thought we would go down. We looked like a lower league team playing away in the cup. Sadly we now are a lower league team in name as well
Get over it Tina. Nobody died. I went to Derby to suffer the insults and gloating of the home team. My brother in law is a Bolton Wanderers fan. No it wasn't pleasant but let's not make it too dramatic. Cheer up! An opportunity to clear out deadwood, get a new manager/coach in, invest some money (the new owners do not want the club to fail) and hopefully see a few more wins at Oakwell next season. That run since November with the exception of the games against Sheff. Utd and Brentford was dire. Sing as we go! You Reds!!
That is a good analogy and is exactly how we looked today. Derby just took their time and picked us off like they were batting off an irritating fly.
I just hope we use the relegation to have a full rebuild. And that's not just in respect to the playing staff. I think the powers that be have to put plans in place to rehabilitate the club's image from top to bottom and shake off the "Tin Pot" and "Shitty Payers" tags. I don't know how they are going to do the first bit, and there is only one way to sort the wages bit out, but I feel it's the only way the club can make progress past being Championship strugglers year on year...
Don't wish to be antagonistic but you have been an apologist for everything that has happened at the club over the past few months. I'm mad as hell at the sheer incompetence of those in charge. Let's hope lessons have been learned.
Be as antagonistic as you like. Now - what lessons do you think SHOULD have been learned? What COULD have been done differently? WHO has been incomptetent. In what way? Tell me details. Let me know your solutions - otherwise STFU.
Those plans will be on hold now I'm sure. Cant see there being much investment until we are back in the champ
It is painful, frustrating and it hurts but we will be back. I never thought I'd see the likes of Conor Hourihane and that play off team and they were a joy to watch. It will come again; we will be there for the roller coaster ride. Nothing and nobody can stop us supporting our team, so take heart and onwards and upwards!
Perhaps the club could think about player contracts. Possibly think more deeply about managerial appointments. Possibly get the person operating the fax machine on deadline day to do their job properly (allegedly). Send out season ticket renewal reminders on time. Etc. Etc. I'll ignore the STFU bit as it's not worth responding to.
