With our new look midfield duo I wondered if any fans were missing Howard. He has not been mentioned on here for a while.

    Yes

Or someone like him who can score. We're playing OK as a team now, but I don't know if we've got enough goals in us to keep us safe.

    RE: Yes

I think whilst that is an issue, we're now doing something we've not done in the Championship, and that is look solid at the back. We have a back 5 currently who, like you pointed out last night, have only conceded 1 in 3 and that was a penalty. I think we now look a lot more solid throughout, and so whilst we're missing his goals, the defence looks like we could only have to score the odd goal to win a game. Maybe the amount of goals we'll not concede (compared to past seasons) will be as many/more than Howard would get a season?

I don't think that post made any sense...

    you could argue that

that with a defensive midfielder playing alongside him he would have been even more effective. We could easily play with just one wideman and have had Howard drifting wide occasionally.

    not really

okay his goal scoring record last year was excellent and if he could achieve the same this year then maybe so, but I think at times his attitude on the pitch and the way he berated players often for his own mistakes was a negative side of his character that i'm not missing at all. Team seems more balanced without him and when anderson gets is shooting boots out of the cupboard we'll be sorted

    We miss his goalscoring ability...

i think you can wipe off his performances this season for us, because it was clear he wasn't interested and wanted away!

We desperately need a modern day Hignett type player to give us something going forward. Now... where to find one thats available, cheap or available for loan......

    Our curent midfield

Have half a dozen goals per season between them. Tops. We're not going to score enough.

    RE: Our curent midfield

Inclined to agree with you. Is difficult for me to comment having only seen two games this season but on the evidence of the Derby match with Howard in the side we weren't looking very creative and the defence looked extremely suspect despite keeping the clean sheet that day. Much of that was to do with the fact that the midfield was completely over-run for much of the match, and no-one was picking up any loose balls until Bobby Hassell came on.

Wonder if Arsenal'd loan out Wilshere...

    Just a thought.

Probably wouldn't leave London at his age.

Where would we play a midfielder, it's a striker we need

If anybody from Arsenal it would be Carlos Vela on loan now Eduardo is nearly fit

I am assuming we wouldnt get eduardo

Yes lets not forget the Anderson/Howard midfield early last season and its success and plaudits it was receiving.

I for one had been waiting for that to happen all season only for it to be taken away with the exception of Southampton away.

Devaney Anderson Howard JCR would have been my ideal midfield.

Howard`s so called replacement Leon cant even cement a place in the starting eleven.

Colace doing OK but along side Anderson they lack goals lets hope that changes.
