Their use is in riot situations only , the ones Boris bought were 20 years old needed a fortune spending on refurbishing and adapting to comply with our road standards . It was a stunt , that tells you all you need to know about Boris . A Foreign Secretary who the Prime Minister of the day that appointed him didn’t trust him with sensitive information , you really couldn’t make it up
Yes but the money was spent on them that was needed so the decision not to use them was stupid. They could have been mothballed at raf northolt and serviced so they were always ready for action if needed. Instead they were scrapped for 11000 quid.
And in any sane universe, the Mayor would have made sure that he had the necessary authorisation from the Home Secretary before purchasing them. Grandstanding that didn't come off, I'm afraid.
How many times would they have been used by now? If it wasn’t for the impending Brexit farce, they’d likely not be needed for another 5 years. Spending that much money on crap machines to manage riots, when they don’t have kit to manage snow that happens about 5 times more often. Look back 40 years, how many times would they have been used. And that’s if we accept that they’re a good tactic. Which the experts aren’t in agreement about.
So he bought them knowing they couldn't be used and it was May's fault because he couldn't use them. Quite ironic they are used in other European countries as he wants Britain to be responsible for making its own rules .....
So your still getting your facts wrong when all you had to do was two minutes research so it's a waste of time engaging with you bye.
Have you researched them The 25-year-old vehicles cost £85,022 in 2014, but they were found to be riddled with faults and required expensive modification to make them roadworthy. This included £32,000 to comply with the city’s low emission zone, and almost £1,000 on new stereos.
2 things for me: 1) Boris is/was a far better Mayor than the current joke that is Khan. That guy needs removing from his position ASAP. He’s failed at most major things. 2) I know folk who have worked closely with Boris in the past - and although sometimes he comes across as a wally on TV etc. he’s far from it. He’s actually quite switched on and very intelligent. He uses his persona as a smoke screen. To be fair, he probably does need to change that side of things now, as folk don’t need that when looking at a poss future PM. He’s not without fault though - no one is.
I'll tell you what...when my Garage got broken into last year it would have been very reassuring to see the water cannon turn up.
Yes - plus. People that have worked with him praise him highly. Example - I watch Daily Politics show regularly. Last week there was a black women representing a FGM London based charity who had nothing but praise for him. Ok Boris is a guy that likes women and he likes a laugh and a joke - but who dosen't?
Don't forget the couple of grand to a think tank to come up with an appropriate playlist: Singin in the Rain - Gene Kelly Why does it always rain on me? - Travis Under Pressure - Queen Jet - Wings Kill all Hippies - Primal Scream Raining Blood - Slayer Invaders Must Die - The Prodigy
The water cannon probably worked but according to Home Office rules they couldn't be used in anger and were eventually sold for less than they were purchased for. Add to the list the Boris Bus which proved unreliable and unworthy of being called a Routemaster.
The people who worked with him at the Foreign Office think he was a walking disaster no grasp of his brief , I saw the same interview about FGM , she’s a personal friend of Boris’s girlfriend and was on to denigrate Hunt who she made some quite disparaging remarks about
