Gram Parsons, Clash, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Nick Drake, Elvis, Sex Pistols.. I think I would have found a Beatles audience too annoying.. :)

I saw em at Sheffield octagon in 1994 with the original line up. That was before I developed my pathological hatred of Noel Gallagher

My mate saw Hendrix play in a cave. That sounded like some gig.

I have seen a lot of my heroes, but seeing Coltrane at the Village Vangard would have been nice.

I was on holiday with a girlfriend in Vegas in the mid / late 90's & Neil Young was doing an intimate gig. It was about 50 bucks a ticket back then. She wasn't a fan, so got talked out of it, but wish I'd done it now. Was about 300 capacity.

Saw Bowie at the Kirkstall Rollarena in 1973 and having had that experience, I’ve never regretted not seeing any other artiste. In fact. It spoiled every gig I‘ve seen since because nothing I’ve seen has come close to that concert in Leeds.
Sorry if that rubs it in a bit!

My 13 year old mum was stopped from going to see The Beatles in Sheffield, just as she was trying to sneak out the house. She never really did forgive her parents for that.

I saw them on the farewell tour with John Sykes instead of Robertson, and they were good, but I would have loved to have seen the above lineup

The Beatles hands down. Although, I’d have loved to have seen Blondie (Debbie especially), Bowie, The Ramones and even Oasis.

Odd but wonderful mate of mine wanted me to drive him to see them in Huddersfield (I think) on Xmas Day.

    Some charity do.

It seemed real and daft and impossible at the time.

Depends when you saw them. Or where. You’d have been able to hear the band when they played in Japan. The mum of the lass I went out with when I lived in Liverpool was a Cavern girl. She went off them when they left Liverpool. Surely you’d have wanted to be in the Cavern for their first gig with Ringo? I think that would be my fantasy gig, if I ever got my hands on a TARDIS. Closely followed by the Elvis 68 TV Special or any show* on Dylan’s 66 tour, although I’ve seen him lots of times.

Re the Pistols, my next door neighbour was at both the Pistols’ Christmas Day show in Huddersfield…and Gerry Wainwright’s wedding. Now if those two aren’t something to brag about…

I had a ticket for the Pistols at Finsbury Park in 96, but gave it away. For the same reason that I gave up a freebie to see the Stones at Twickenham about 20 years ago. I’d only want to see those two bands if you could take me back to 76 and 73 respectively.

I often think about the bands where I can’t understand why I never got round to seeing them. Pink Floyd and New Order spring to mind. I don’t like big venues or outdoor gigs, which probably explains it, but I attended others. The one I really kick myself about is Prince at the O2, which I decided against cos I’d heard of the hassle getting home from the O2. So I didn’t see one of the greatest musical performers ever cos getting home from the O2 to Mill Hill would be a faff. What a pillock I am sometimes.

One where there’s an obvious reason why I never got to see him is Jeff Buckley. When I first moved to London in 95 it was brill that I could get to see all the bands, including the ones who never ventured past the M25. If you remember, on the wall as you went into the Borderline they had photos of artists that had played there. Buckley was on the wall and I was hoping he’d play in there again the next time he came over. Wasn’t to be.

*Belfast, probably, as I’ve listened to them all and he seemed to get less jeering there.
