Less than 5000 in the ground last night and the noise from Notts County during parts of the game was fantastic

I know they have everything to play for but i was very impressed.

The Wheelbarrow song they sing sounded like they were 10k in the ground

Fantastic ground and i actually hope they stop up - would much rather go to Notts County than Crawley

I didn't think it was. It just sounded louder cos of somebody with a drum. But I have to agree with your comments about the ground and that they stop up

    Yeah the drummer did help

Dont get me wrong it wasn't electric but to say they were only 4000 home fans i thought it was decent.

I found the ground fantastic for league 1 and the view from the away end was really good

One of the best pre-match drinks i have had , some great pubs near to ground

It's a superb ground - really well laid out and well maintained. I don't know whether they got it to that size when they were playing in the top division (long time ago) but it really does them credit. I just found the whole matchday experience very relaxed.

Little things like not being searched at the turnstiles (I don't look anything like a hooligan!); being given a bottle of Seven up with the top on; friendly welcome at the top of the steps by the stewardess. I suppose a warm Spring evening and a decent game of football helps, but it was a good away day.

Only thing I didn't like - the drum! Hate them. No place in football grounds for drums. But, to their credit, they didn't keep it up the whole match.

My memory is fading as I get older but I'm pretty sure they somehow put three stands up over the space of one summer, we went there towards the end of one season and there was only the current main stand up as it is now, the rest of the ground was old fashioned seats and terracing, we then went early the next season and the ground looked like it did last night!

Now I know I drink quite a lot of beer but I'm sure that is what happened so hopefully someone can verify my story! Struggling to remember the exact timescales but at a guess i would say late 80's/early 90's when the ground was upgraded to it's current state

Here we go, courtesy of wikipedia .............

"The Bradford City stadium fire and Hillsborough disaster brought the safety of football stadia into the public gaze and eventually the Taylor Report required that football clubs modernise their grounds. Meadow Lane was subsequently redeveloped during the early 1990s, although the work was planned before the report was issued. The Meadow Lane End, County Road Stand and Spion Kop were all demolished in the 1992 close season and replaced with the Family Stand, the Jimmy Sirrel Stand and the Spion Kop Stand respectively. The Main Stand was replaced during the close season of 1994 by the Derek Pavis Stand"

Thanks - I would have gone and read up on it myself, but you beat me to it. I thought it was about that kind of vintage. It's just so neat though - everything in proportion and not too big. Even with only 4 thousand in it didn't look empty. I bet the place is rocking when they get a full house, but when that last happened who knows!

I've never been in that part of the city before and I was just bowled over by the proximity of Trent Bridge, The City Ground and Meadow Lane - all excellent sporting venues. I parked in the street that links the cricket and Forest's grounds and walked over the river. It was warm, sunny, rowing teams were on the river, red shirted away fans strolling about. All was well with the world :)

Yes I really like the ground as well, much better than the 'new' grounds they put up now that all look the same and it did look like there was more in than just short of 5,000 and the atmosphere was good for a small crowd.

Hopefully they will stay up and we'll get to go there on a warm sunny Saturday afternoon when we are top of the league with a sold out away end!

They had 16,587 in against Man City in a televised 4th round FA Cup tie in 2010/11 season, they drew 1-1 City equalising in last 10 mins but got stuffed 5-0 int replay.
