Once the new guys settle in things should be fun. Bassett's law - doesn't matter what we let in, just make sure we score more. 99/00 we let in 67 and finished 4th, West Brom let in 60 and finished 21st!

I've always said Bassett was REDS best manager in recent times. Most people will say Wilson, and yes, he was the most "historic", by gaining the Promotion, but I actually thought Bassett made us really competitive in league and cup and was actually very unlucky (Barnard's penalty miss, Hristov's miss at Wembely, etc).

He did a great initial consolidation job and built a strong team that was difficult to beat and played decent football.

Wholeheartedly disagree. We'd have won the league if he'd kept De Zeeuw instead of ***** like Tuttle, Chettle and Brown.

Plus he would have let Hignett go...

Didn't De Zeeuw leave after we were relegated? Nothing Bassett could do about that (unless I'm wrong)

No. He stayed after relegation and Basset let him go to replace him with Tuttle and Chettle.
