“the prize money for the competition has increased from just under £2m to £3m for 2018- the bulk of which comes from the Premier League”

    From the bbc

Bribery pure and simple. Thats loose change to the Greed League and they should be giving that and more - UNCONDITIONALLY - to the EFL.
Next step - Greed League B teams in OUR leagues.

I’m pretty sure that L1 & L2 clubs’ chairman’s had to vote for them to be allowed in, Obviously the majority thought it was a good idea. I won’t be going, nor will i be attending the Bradford game. The only good thing that could come out of this is game time for the fringe players and players coming back from injuries.

Oh and when the under 23s start winning the competition where will the bulk of that bribe end up? Back in the Greed League.

That's an additional 1m to be shared between 48 clubs. It's less than £21k per club and it isn't paid evenly either.

You'll think it's a problem if they go further and allow B teams in Divisions 2 and 3.

There is no chance I'll ever go & see a match like this. Disgusting. If this proliferates further I'll consider giving up all together.

I seem to recall reading somewhere the vote was influenced by the premier leagues stance on the distribution of tv money. I.e do this or we will give you less.

Thats what I thought as well - I think the deal was pitched in a way that gave the lower clubs little realistic choice

I'm not there as in in Helsinki. However I wouldn't have paid anyway as I just see it as an under 21 game and a matter of principle more so than the money. I'm sure we will have a fairly weakened side. To me it would have made perfect sense to give anyone buying a ticket for Saturday, Tuesdays ticket free of charge. Maybe get more in on Saturday and at least try to make something positive out of the U21 game.

I want to try me lad at a first team game. I would prefer reserves on an evening but isn’t how we do it these days.

However, intend to wait for Bradford as at least it is a L1 side.
