I don’t have any stats, however I imagine it’s a very small percentage of fans who choose to watch the match on an illegal stream over going.

If you want to get more casual fans in the ground, which is the only way to drive up attendances, then charge an admission of £15. The only way attendances will go up otherwise is near the end of a season where we're in with a real shout of promotion.

Well we will never know on that one....... I do however know quite a few that never attend Oakwell but watch every game on “dodgy”...... suppose we are down to the hardcore of fans at the moment......even in promotion season to premier league we struggled to get 10,000 until after Charlton game at back end of season

I get that. The people that have always struggled to get to home games because of things like distance. I am on about people who will have been regulars but decided this season to watch from home instead because of the iFollow change. You can't beat being there in person so if people are buying iFollow when they could actually get to Oakwell that's a shame.

I had season ticket last season and for majority of seasons before since 97. Last season was a total shambles at times pouring boiling water over my head seemed a better option than using my season ticket. I was totally pissed off with a self inflicted relegation by chein and conman. So much so I didn't renew. This season I've been a few home games 1 away game was going to go yesterday but it was baltic so I decided against it and fell asleep on the settee watching the celtic game. I'm hoping to go to Accrington away but will see still to get a ticket yet. Once you get out of the habit of going it's hard to get back into it I find. Pleased the team are doing well and I think duff is doing a excellent job.

I agree. There's no substitute to being there. I'd be surprised, given the low per natch costs of having a season ticket, if regulars are watching on ifollow for any other reason than it's cheaper in a time of financial hardship for many.
Matchday pricing has always been a bugbear for me. We never seem to look beyond the short term of charging as much as we can get away with for the casual fan as opposed to charging as little as we can get away with and turning more casual fans into regulars.

Pirelli to Oakwell is 65 miles according to google maps but either way, only bringing 170 is quite poor you’d argue.

I’d agree with the OP, it was a poor attendance. What was it? About 7000 - if that?

We can’t even get those who’ve purchased Season Tickets to attend yet alone any significant amount of ‘drop ins’.

I’ve no doubt that if we keep winning, attendances will pick up, even without the ‘feel good’ factor that is so obviously not in evidence as it was for our last two promotions from this Division. That may also return if we keep progressing.

Would be nice to see the Club doing a bit more on the promotional side to encourage more casual fans to turn up. The reward for encouraging more atmosphere, more ‘togetherness’ between Club and fans could be promotion and that’s got to be worth a bit more effort.

They don't have great support, probably due to their fairly recent entry to the EFL which meant that footy folk round here tended to support Derby, Leicester or Forest. Many people see the Albion as their second team and hence wouldn't travel to away games.

Trust me, the miles recorded in our car was 150 for my last round trip...

Yes it is a wake up call for us !
Especially as not many years ago Bolton were nearly out of business.
Another thing as well, Bolton's ground is about 5 miles out of town near Horwich so fans have to travel every time. We are just out of town. What excuse therefore do we have? Is it now better to have grounds situated away from the town centres where parking is easier?

This is pretty much me now.
Having decided not to renew, I go to games on an ad hoc basis. The freedom this has given me is actually very pleasant. I’m saving money, I can still watch on i player, or can do something else altogether.
I was driving all day yesterday, and even though I missed a win, I don’t feel that I’ve missed out.
In a way it’s sad that I am no longer a “loyal” fan, but it has opened up so much time for me, I’m quite happy with it.

So for those who were there yesterday what do you think the actual crowd was?

Its better than the 4 or 5 thousand that some were predicting before the season started.

And I bet he was given a seat right in the top corner. I always was when I sat there. Swathes of empty seats closer to the half way line but they fill the worst seats in the stand first.
