What's bad about it? I got 7.5 and haven't been prompted to upgrade. But if it's as bad as you say they can ballax.
I downloaded IE7 by the way and that was ballax. I managed to delete it from programs and reinstate IE6, which was fortunately the underlying version and still there.

What don't you like about it? It appears to be more thorough so the scan takes longer, but you can alter the options in the scanner settings to reduce what it scans for. I didn't realise that it scanned for cookies so my first scan on AVG8 took 1 hour 40 minutes.
RE: What's bad about it? What's wrong with IE7? It was installed on my new PC and seems OK. It did require a little tailoring, I like being able to open additional pages (tabs) within the same window, but where's my refresh button gone?!
I'm not at home but i'm more than certain refresh is the 2 little green arrows to the right of the address bar, next to Stop the red button. I'm used to IE7 now and I prefer it.
Cheers I'll have to check that but looks like you are right http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/02/01/522737.aspx I obviously overlooked that one! Saves me doing right-click and then refresh
Whats wrong with good old F5 ? And hold the ALT button down for three seconds you get a menu bar back too !
RE: What's bad about it? Caused constant crashing of PC.
Everything fine when it was eradicated.

It has replaced both the AVG Anti Virus and AVG Anti Spyware, but hasn't kept the benefits of the latter. For instance, you can no longer do a 'smart system scan' for spyware that used to take less than 10 minutes, you have to do a full computer scan that last night took over an hour and a half. You have some flexibility in what it scans, but not like you had with the previous Anti Spyware version. Also, if you turn off automatic updating the icon in the system tray shows the program to be in an error state. I don't need it to update every day, just when a new definitions file is available. The latter version allowed this, but version 8 does not.
Do you need the antivirus to update and scan every day as mine is doing at present or can you alter it to update and scan only when you want it to,or is it best left as it is.
You can turn the scheduled scan off In my opinion scanning your computer everyday is way above what is required. Once a week is more than adequate. Your resident shield is active so it prevents threats at source.
avg 8.0 absolute crap, dont download it, i downloaded it installed it and my pc as done nothing but go slow. it wont let me uninstall it either, its giving me errors
updates for avg 7 are being stopped at the end of this month is the new version as bad as they say on here
