We've got about a dozen of them - but it looks like we could be rapidly becoming your bogey team.
Only listened to the radio commentary last night and it sounded like we did pretty well, particularly in the 1st half. No cutting edge to us though. They reckoned our keeper could have had his nails manicured without fear of damaging them!
Match report here - if you can put yourself through it http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/football-news/2008/09/17/city-s-great-start-floors-tykes-91466-21835092/

You're far superior in every department. Some of your football in the first half was excellent, movement was far too good for our back four and central defenders. Second half you were just comfortable and restricted us to one meaningful attempt at goal. I reckon you've got a shot at the top six.
To be honest you had nothing to play against. It was one of the most depressing performances I have seen in a long while. Read some of the posts on here and you will realise how bad we were. You lads did what you had to do, and I thought you could have scored more but realised you didn't have to! I doubt if you will get an easier game until you play us again!
Bogey teams We have loads & show no sign of ever changing the trend..... just can't wait for our games against Donny Wednesday Coventry (away) Norwich :'( Your back four look solid to say the least.
Nowhere near as good as last season imo Any flair we had has been replaced by "workmanlike" performances. We haven't clicked at all tbh, particularly in front of goals. Ross McCormack's carrying a knock from the Scotland U21's and struggling.
Won't complain too much though as we're difficult to beat at the moment.

You're right about the strikers If they'd got their act together the scoreline could have been embarrassing because our defence didnt turn up
We never competed So until you come up against a decent side it's hard to judge. 2nd half you never needed to get out of 1st gear, deserved win.
No need Jeff... ... you won fair and square, stronger fitter faster and more skillful. Even McFrail looked good !!!
Deserved victory against relegation fodder !!!

Don't think we're good enough for top 6 - but not far off it. Around 8th would be my guess.
Our 1st XI is not too bad although we still need attacking options. Selling Steve Thompson to Burnley without a direct replacement was a mistake imo. Eddie Johnson is not fit as yet and largely unproven anyway.
Our squad depth has improved somewhat but is still short on numbers imo - we've struggled with the bench in recent weeks so look out come December/January

RE: To be honest I've read through a few & obvioulsy there is something not right up there judging by peoples reaction.
You can forgive a lot of things - but no apparenteffortishard to take.

RE: Bogey teams Never thought I'd see the day when Darren Purse was solid & reliable - but since we sold Glenn Loovens to Celtic, he's really stepped up to the mark.
Mind you, lump balls into a big ugly center half & you expect him to deal with them.
Saw your post on Cardiff fans btw and didn't think you'd be replying to me

RE: We never competed We've not played a "play-off" team so far imo - Sheff Utd being closest to it I suppose. Derby (A) on Saturday for us.
We're doing just enough at the moment and are unbeaten since a certain game in May.
I'd never attach any emphasis on pre-season games but we played Ajax, Celtic & Guimares - who are allin this years Champions League as well as Middlesborough - so we must be doing something right

RE: No need Jeff... I'll be honest with you, I've not been a fan of McPhail but in the last 6 months he's been playing very well. Cost me a few beers with the lads who sit around me I can tell you :'(
Dave Jones uses fitness as the basis of his side. Fitness coach was the first appointment he made when he became manager.

Our strikers McCormack looks an absolute steal at £120k but as I said, is struggling with injury at the moment. Birmingham bid £1.75m for him in January apparently but at the time he wanted to stay at Motherwell with Mark McGee - until McGee left that is. Reminds me of Chopra in many ways. Enough said.
Bothroyd looks like there's a good player in him, when he eventually gets fit that is- but is never going to be prolific. Yet to score for us.
Parry is a winger who chips in with goals.
Eddie Johnson is unfit & unproven. His goalscoring has been at international level for the USA against the likes of Guatamala - and I'm reasonably confident I could score against those.
We're then into 1st year pros & the academy.

you should have been 6 nil up at half time every time you attacked you looked like scoring,we were second to everything, totally flat,no spark,no closing down,no nowt, pathetic!!
RE: you should have been 6 nil up at half time Sounded like we played well up to half time and eased back in the 2nd half - although your alterations in that half may be the reason.
Thought when you beat Derby that it could be the spur neededto kick-start your season. Maybe more drastic action is required.
Performances like it appears you gave last night are depressing to say the least.

RE: Bogey teams Ah yes, I am sorry to say Cardiff have taken over from Leicester fans as the most obnoxious bunch I've come across.... nowt personal ... you seem friendly enough, and I'm sure there are planty more like you ...BUT, last two or three occasions have been quite sour in terms of the behavior & attitude of fans. Nowt personal, and definitely not sour grapes or anything.
RE: Bogey teams No probs. You get used to abuse as a Cardiff fan - we get it every week. Skin like a Rhino me
Although times have changed for the better, we're still not particularly a "family club" - although the amount of child s/t holders is ever increasing. All child s/t were sold outthis year I believe which is encouraging.
The vast majority of our support are 35-50yo men who've supported the club through thin & thinner times. We're passionate about our club and it's often misconstrued. Don't get me wrong, we're not angels by any means but attitudes and actions are definately changing.
Then again, particularly at NP, the "nuisance" fans are the spotty 16 year-olds who stand next to the away fans. Embarrassing tbh.

Thought you weren't brilliant but against us, you didnt need to be. That Whittingham fella's a good player, got around the back of us time and time again last night. That Comminges a think it was, kept going down really easy, then he got injured proper in the last minute and we all laughed cos we thought he was pissing about again.
