I'm not saying that Gomes was a world beater yesterday, but he got my MoM vote. He never stopped, worked his nuts off, was constantly looking for options, and hardly ever lost the ball. I could feel his frustration from where I was sitting. The reason he spent so much time pointing was because there wasn't enough movement ahead of him.

Our movement yesterday was so so bad. Throughout the team from the first minute to the last.

As much as absolutely nothing came off for Woodrow yesterday, at all, he was almost universally alone in making runs and pulling defenders around to get in to positions where his execution was poor. Not having him making those runs would make us weaker in my opinion - where as a proper setup would see him get his confidence back.

I think both Benson and Gomes were equally as culpable yesterday. We need a midfield, especially centrally, to make things work. It's just too disjointed, losing the ball easily when attacking and so so easy for the opposition to mount attacks when we don't. The new Coach has a lot of work to do

No offense mate, but you watched a different game to me. Granted nobody was very mobile yesterday, including Gomes. 99% of his passes were 5 yards backwards. At least others tried to play a forward pass (with little success)

I can only agree that we need another body in central midfield. Been saying for a while this formation isn't working and to put 5 in midfield. However, as it stands at the moment Gomes isn't the answer for me

Good question, he would have been a definite asset to the team yesterday with his pace. I lost count of the times we were caught on the break. Moon and Helik are not the fastest centre backs and Kitching is only marginally faster. Even the great Paul Futcher was at his best when paired with a young fast lad alongside him to cover when he was outpaced.
