Sheffield United have emerged as favourites to land £5million Jermaine Beckford after offering misfiring striker Billy Sharp in a swap deal.</p> The Blades are ready to hand Leeds cash plus £2million-rated Sharp for hit-man Beckford, who has been transfer-listed after rejecting a new contract at Elland Road. Newcastle, Peterborough, Barnsley and Sharp's old club Scnuthorpe are also tracking Londonborn Beckford,25, who has hit 54 goals in two seasons.</p> But Bramall Lane boss Kevin Blackwell is now the firm front-runner to grab the former Wealdstone star.</p> Sheffield-born Sharp,23, has had a miserable time since returning to his home-townteamfroScnuthorpe two years ago and feels a move could kick-start his flagging career.</p> Sharp scored 53 goals in 82 games for the Iron, but has managed to find the net only 12 times in 65 appearances for the Blades.</p> But Leeds boss Simon Grayson is a big admirer of the hard-working forward.</p>
We've supposedly bidded for Rickie Lambert. Hope so, rate him highly. Prefer him to Beckford for the physical side of things.

its also unlikely that blunts will sign him as blackwell gave up on his first touch at leeds. not good enough for championship.
I don't think I've ever known a close season as quiet With regards to incoming transfer rumours, the obvious exception being the summer of 2003 when we were in Administration. Mr Davey certainly seems to be keeping his cards close to his chest.
RE: FROM THE MIRROR READING IN FOR CAMPBELL RYCE http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...ryce-to-replace-stephen-hunt-115875-21477481/ 'The fans player of the year last season' Yep they do know alot!
We should go for Sharp, out of the two. If he needs a kickstart, why not move just up the road ?</p> Beckford ? I'd risk a million but like Dreamboy says ......... £5m for a third division laiker ? Ballax.</p>
RE: We should go for Sharp, out of the two. It's totally illogical that Beckford is being priced at twice the money we could get for JCR.
if Hunt is worth £5m Johnson worth £5m, Ronaldo worth £80m ffs... Campbell-Ryce and Anderson must be worth at least £2.5m, minimum.
RE: if Hunt is worth £5m I seems like if a player plays for us they're valuation drops by half of what it should be when you look at other players in the divisions' fees
RE: if Hunt is worth £5m Excatly, peterboro have put a £5m price tag on their u21 keeper meaning they'll probably get half. Why don't we put high price tags on top players instead of giving them away?
They won't get nowt like 5m for him. 1.5 tops. Personally I wouldn't want to see us spend any more than 1m on him if we bought him. But I do reckon he is capable of getting goals in the Championship. He has consistently scored them at L1 level over a couple of seasons so obviously knows where the back of the net is. Last time he was in Championship he was a young lad, straight from non-league (where he scored plenty) so it is a bit harsh for any one to judge him on that. I would say him and Sharp are of a similar standard, would like either, but would just about opt for Sharp because he seems a more rounded lad.
