Yesterday’s gate 10419. Really? For a premiership game? I know they are looking at Citeh, but what about these? They have players on the pitch worth millions. How come?
Russian money for the last 10 years...what do you think? he's flogged it now though, to some American media group, with fingers in all kinds of pies.
A club that historically belongs in the third or fourth tier. I’d guess they’ve spent more time there than anywhere else. A small club that’s bought their success.
Good attendance for them 1 match this season . dipped below 10,000 Capacity 11,300 ish. I wonder if the shortfall is away fans. And or Sectioning off. Edit No waiting list for season tickets. Which surprised me. Average adult price around £500. Low of £340. And away allocation can be between 1500 or 2000 on request. Population 500k plus.
They do the right thing staying where they are. The likes of Southampton, Coventry and Leicester spent a lot of time in the Premier League in their dumps opposition teams didn't like visiting. Getting a brand new stadium ruined it for them all.
Bournemouth are looking to move once a site has been approved. Applying for one near the airport by the sounds of it.
It will ruin them. Attendance money is tiny in the grand scheme of things at PL level. They will soon be relegated.
Premier league money £120m, impact of an extra 10,000 fans at a game per year, £7.5m. For clubs in the premier league the gate money is relatively less important. Their last accounts showed a profit of £17m with profit from player sales of £55m. Total losses amount to around £100m.
Can't say its ruined Leicester (won the premier league) or southampton tbf. 7 seasons outside the top flight in circa 50 yrs. Regardless of the income. (Which is not the point being made) Brentford aren't doing too bad either. They'd outgrown their old ground. As for ruin em. They may get relegated in the present stadium and you are saying stay where they are. ? It's possibly the facilities. at present. don't attract more fans. As you say it's a dump.
I think their ground is right for them in that they fill it easily. I hate seeing acres of empty seats at bigger grounds, like Oakwell for example. I reckon a 15,000 seater would suit us better than what we have. There’s a lot of talk about lack of atmosphere but a packed ground usually improves that. Unless it’s old Trafford of course!
Leicester a Premier title, a FA Cup win and a couple of decent European runs. Kin ell I wish we were that ruined...
Took Leicester a fair while to recover from top flight Football. Dropping down the leagues, all sorts of money worries and had to fight their way back. Same with Southampton and Coventry who both dropped two leagues when moving to a new ground.
Well in that reckoning maybe we should all have chipped in a few years ago and helped the piggies into a new stadium for the start of this season
Not this again, A new 15000 seater stadium would show a total lack of ambition and an acceptance that we’re resigned to playing at this current level for the foreseeable. The main problem has largely been down to what’s happening, or not, on the pitch.
But they dropped down the leagues both of em quite a few times in their history. Playing at the old grounds. What ruined em then. ? They are in general bottom half clubs throughout history. Coventry was very little to do with going to a new stadium but massive mismanagement. They have never owned the ground and are a big **** up. Slowly building back up. May have some sentimentality these old grounds but they are dumps. (Would you prefer to step in those on a regular basis.) Pig sty. Bell end road. Both need redevelopment or shift. Sometimes the latter being a cheaper option. The Dell 15k St Marys 32k+ Filbert st 22k King power stadium 32k + Average attendances for both, around the 30k mark. Ruined by moving you said.? Catering for more fans I'd say.
I get where you are coming from but if we ever reach the premiership again I reckon we'd be sold out in the home sections every week at the capacity now. 16k, ish and a couple of thousand more if we split the north stand which would be a must for me. Aim high.
It’s a big “if” though and maybe not something achievable again. If we did though I would hope that the regulars over the last ten years or so would be guaranteed a season ticket if they wanted one. The rest would have to queue and hope for the best. Only fair…
Why do you think that could possibly change. Never has never will imho. Those at present would get first shout. Those that don't/didn't renew for whatever reason sadly would possibly have to join the queue if records aren't kept. Or lost Which I believe happened quite a few yrs back.
I was just thinking back to the summer of 1997. I can’t remember exactly how it was done but we didn’t have as many ST holders then to be served first. I was in Gloucester and relied on my brother to get one for me. That was my 35th season so I think I deserved one….
