That's how it's done BFC (Don and Pat). £3M for Stones is terrible money when we don't have to sell. BFC - experts in killing all fresh impetus, enthusiasm and hope for the fans at the first opportunity.
I've come to the conclusion that you're wasting your time expecting us to ever get a a good deal for the club in the transfer market. This will just keep happening time and time again until there is a change of personnel and culture at the very top.
It's irrelevant. The stance taken by Burnley is the stance BFC should have been taking with Stones all along, rather than touting around a fee that would be acceptable. We've accepted the first bid of £3M today without attempting to start any sort of bidding war - and if the bidding war didn't materialise then we keep him. Each way, BFC wins. If we're operating in the black like Rowing says we are then why are we in a rush to sell our best prospect for the first 'acceptable' bid. Nothing has changed at BFC since Hill left other than the manager. The powers that be are still clueless.
Its relevant as I bet they'd flog him if someone bid £3m. Its just words from SD. How do you know there hasn't been a bidding war? We appear to have turned previous bids down and valued him at £3m. Flicker said he was worth £3m and thats what we have now accepted. I don't want him to leave as he is a good young player with strong potential but I think you have taken this out of context.
All they have done by making that announcement is to say that he is actually for sale. And seeing as no one has actually made an offer, it actually sounds like they are trying to drum up some interest in him.
If you think it's a good piece of business then no wonder Don and PC think they can get away with it time after time. It's opinions though, but I certainly haven't taken it out of context. You state yourself that we set the bar at £3M and we've accepted £3M so how you deduce a bidding war may have gone on is beyond me. It's like selling a house. A player is worth what some idiot is prepared to pay for it, and if you ask for a crappy price then that's what you'll get. And the point is that we have NO reason to sell at this moment in time. Terrible business again by BFC in my view, with all context taken in to account.
I must say the way BFC has handled this is appalling, in past deals (Butterfield, Hammill, Davies, Vaz Te etc) I have let it slide to some extent understanding that our hands were tied by players wanting to leave or contracts nearing their end. However, this is a local lad who I don't doubt enjoys playing for his team on a lengthy contract with bags of potential, and a vital part of us staying up and what has happened? We've accepted the second bid from Wigan... A Wigan who lets not forget respect us so little they are rumoured to have made a first offer of £500k, complete lack of class from the club to do any business with them after that never mind selling our best asset to them.. All this is making me wonder how much the club could have done in past deals to get a better fee or even keep players.. In the last few weeks the club have been absolutely amazing, impressing me at every turn reducing prices appointing flicker etc. I was starting to feel an optimism I'd not felt in quite a while with Barnsley, shame for them to ruin it like this. Now I'm not saying £3m is a terrible price for one of our players- I am, however, saying it is a terrible price given whats at stake- relegation and we don't even have the time to reinvest the money making it essentially useless. I'd also like to mention Billy Sharp at Donny- think how long they kept him for with lots of interest.
It's entirely relevant. They've said they wouldnt sell unless they get a "ridiculous offer". What that "ridiculous offer" is no-one knows apart from staff at Burnley. We said we wouldnt sell Stones on the cheap, and he's not gone on the cheap.
As i posted earlier it makes him one of the most expensive U19 defenders in the history of football. Period. Given we dont know what the add-ons are it could be closer to £4m+
all a load of rubbish.. do you actually know how much " a ridiculous bid" will be for burnley.... it might be 2m. conjecture and hear'say..... why get wound up about it
