Are you copying a cd or mp3 files from your hard drive?

Some CD players don't always interpret written CDs very well. My home CDplayer oftrn skips ones that I write, whereas my car player and my portable one both play them perfectly. I assume this is due to the fact they are both labelled "CD rewrite compatible".

Are the players you use of this type, or are they older? Have you tried the CDs on a compatible player? If so, then this may be your problem. If not then presumably you have a writing problem.

First answer...don't use Media Player. Try and get Nero, and burn at a low speed.
